Currently thinking about flexing some serious flower power this weekend, why I didn’t grow any crème brûlée phlox this year, how friggin’ hot it is and how I’m always describing the colours of sunsets to my clients when talking flower palettes. Because orange and pink is sooooo good. What colours are on your minds, my loves? 🌅🌟💕💐
P.S. Can’t wait to come to the farm tomorrow and see my flower order!
P.S.S. My 4 year old said “friggin’ gate” yesterday when entering our yard. 😂😨

This past week has been extraordinary!! I have been so inspired by everyone's creativity at all my workshops. The love and care people put into their wreaths, while savouring all the botanicals, has really made my heart sing.

Thank you to everyone who came out and participated, sharing their beautiful festive spirits. I'm on a very happy cloud right now.

Oh heyyyy December! Scenes from today at the studio because it was so busy busy busy at the workshop yesterday, I barely had a chance to take a photo!! Hence tonight I planned ahead and have my camera savvy friend Leslie coming to assist me. 🙏🏽

Also on a personal note my Dad was a school teacher and principal my whole life (& at the school I went to! 😳😆) and I've discovered I really love teaching. Papa would be proud. Anyway off to for tonight's moss & succulent wreath workshop! Yay.

(Also, anyone else struggling with the very short hours of daylight??... I really am. )

Ocean Spray Bouquet; I found this beautiful seaweed beached on the coast of Vancouver Island. It was a perfectly imperfect display of ikebana arranged by nature, the sea and totally fit for a Dr Seuss book. Cutie.

I am so excited for this Free-form Wreath-making workshop !! Embracing minimalism with a touch of whimsy, come and join us for a festive afternoon of wreath-making at The Aviary. We will learn how to hand-tie a wreath base, as we explore balance, asymmetry and gentleness in our designs. A bounty of foliage, grasses and berries will be provided and delicious snacks and refreshments by our hosts at The Aviary. This will be a workshop where you can get really creative and have loads of 1:1 interaction. Leave with the scent of cedar and eucalyptus on your fingertips and the joy of having made a wreath by hand. 🌿✨♥️

Yesterday morning the sun shone it's magic upon the blooms I'd gathered for two special love birds. 💕

My gardens are pretty much done for the season, so I'm so grateful to Rachel for having my back with a gorgeous supply of local flowers! The dahlias and heirloom mums gave the arrangements the sparkle of romance, with a little pizzazz & elegance; exactly what we were after.

Wreath-making at Bluhouse Cafe and market has become an annual tradition and we are so delighted they are hosting us for another workshop, this Christmas season.

Hello my sweets! I started making Autumn wreaths recently, honestly my fingers had been itching to create and suddenly I find myself getting excited for Christmas wreath-making! Yes, it's November and the festive season will soon be upon us. I'm finalizing the details on a couple of workshops and they are going to be a blast. I can smell the mulled wine and all the cedar already!!! So heads up, keep your eyes open, all will be revealed! Let's get creative together! 🌿🍷

I found a profusion of these flowers growing along the train lines. Their delicate nature caught my eye and I love the way they cascade and flow. Upon trying to discover it's name I fear it's a relative of the Japanese Knotweed, an incredibly invasive species. I wonder if any friendly plant gurus could help me identify it. It definitely has reddish stems, but it's leaves are less firm, they are narrow, soft and pointed. Let me know your thoughts. 🔎📝

Confession: sometimes I feel guilty about indulging myself in a studio. It feels like such a luxury, but in reality the business was taking over my home, every nook and cranny of it. I remember earlier this year I found an old journal of mine from about 8 years ago when forage & BLOOM was just a seed and I had a wish list. A studio was amongst it. Some of the points on that list were to be in my neighbourhood, to be able to bring my dog and to share a space with wonderful creatives. I feel so lucky to have found my studio-mate (or she found me) and that Minke my pup loves it there, (although she has a crush on Oz an amazing painter & seems to prefer Ana's side of the room including behind her loom! Ha ha 💕). Anyway, this was a long rant about a bright tiny space I create in and that makes me incredibly happy. ✨☺️

I'm joining forces with Anja Jane, an extraordinary illustrator who captures nature and the beautiful landscapes that surround us, through her magical realism. I nearly cried when I saw this montage she created merging our work beyond the realms of reality. I love it so much!

Here’s a little compilation of our ‘Warmth of Summer’ Workshop held on Salt Spring Island. We revelled in the most beautiful flowers grown by Laura of @summerloveflowerco and delighted in each other’s company as we arranged them. This was such a beautiful, soulful event held @islandvillagebuilders and fuelled by @janesdough.ssi delicacies. We’re planning a Fall offering so stay tuned flower friends.
