Are you a hip hop dancer? Do you want to dance and be a part of an apprentice program for the Hip Hop Crew Sovereign? Senior mature students can apply as understudy for the crew (Wednesdays). This program isn't for everyone -- be prepared to be challenged! Guided by mentors who are hip hop professionals, this program gets you ready for the real world of dance in this exciting commercial genre.

Pro Arte is pleased to introduce Omar Khalid, the General Manager of FitnessArchitects, a partner organization at the Centre. With a degree in Kinesiology as well as graduate degree in Human Movement, Omar brings science and experience together to create a training environment that inspires and motivates his clients. Omar is also a strength and conditioning coach for our Pro Artistico Program.
"Hi my name is Omar and I run a boutique gym called @FitnessArchitects which operates out of the Pro Arte Centre. My background is in strength and conditioning with a focus on developing youth athletes for their designated sport. I have the privilege of working with the dancers at Pro Arte where the aim is to activate and develop the fast twitch muscle fibers therefore making them more explosive and more importantly bullet-proofing their joints for the high impact landings associated with ballet movements.
One of the unique tools we have here at FitnessArchitects is the VertiMax. This tool allows us to add load to movements that are specific for the athlete’s sport or practice. In this video we have the dancers perform a series of unilateral movements, some with bodyweight and some with load, this is important as we have identified the weaker leg of the athlete which we can then focus on with the single leg movements. We then bring in the Vertimax to perform a bilateral movement so we promote a symmetry of strength. This is an athlete focused approach to training as we want to identify asymmetries and work on correcting any imbalances that may exist. "
