OperOttawa produces opera and oratorio performances for the concert stage featuring established and emerging opera stars in Canada. Tonight’s show features Bizet’s rarely performed masterpiece “The Pearl Fishers”. Singers Norman E. Brown (baritone), Cristina Pisani (soprano), Robert Martin (tenor), and John Holland (bass) will perform the work in concert in the original French, with Claire Harris on piano.

The Bedford Trio is the first piano trio to be selected for the Irene R. Miller Piano Trio Residency at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music. These three award-winning artists perform a concert of melodious and passionate trios that can be imagined overheard sitting in an outdoor café in Paris at night, musing over reflections on the surface on the Seine.

Parts 2 and 3 of Handel’s beloved Messiah will be performed by the St. Jude’s Choir, conducted by Music Director Simon Walker with our favourite soloists and chamber orchestra. Death and Resurrection are the themes of this masterpiece, miraculously written in less than a month for performance during the Easter season in 1742.
