Join Our Team as a Facility Maintenance Worker 1 (Relief)!

In this position you will be the go-to person for custodial care and general maintenance of Recreation facilities, sports fields, landscaped areas and passive green spaces in Lion’s Park, Kinsmen Park, Rotary Park & Beach and our Community Park.

The temporary (relief) term will be within, but not limited to, the dates of Friday, July 26, 2024 to Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

Extreme Heat is in the forecast – Visit the Cooling Centre!

To provide residents with an opportunity to cool off and stay safe during extreme heat, the Town of Oliver in collaboration with local non-profit organizations, will be opening a Cooling Centre for the public.

Heat stroke is an emergency - Call 911 if you or someone you're caring for is displaying symptoms such as RAPID BREATHING, RAPID HEART RATE, EXTREME THIRST, ALTERED LEVELS OF CONSCIOUSNESS.

On June 13th the Women of Oliver for Women Society - WOW hosted a Fundraiser at the Firehall Brewery featuring the Penticton Thursday Night Jazz Band. The music was magic, the weather was perfect, and over a hundred guests enjoyed a great evening of music, food and camaraderie. Money raised was presented to Oliver and District Recreation in support of our Sun Fun Summer Day camps and Recreational Programs.

We want to say a huge thank you to Women of Oliver for Women Society - WOW A very successful evening was enjoyed by all.

Wow! We had a phenomenal weekend here at Oliver and District Recreation!

We want to thank everyone who sponsored, supported, and attended our annual Rock and Roll picnic and Roots and Fruits Festival.

Our Rock and Roll picnic sold over 300 tickets, and we estimate roughly 1,500 visitors during the Roots and Fruits Festival!

Thank you to the Chefs: Ian Stillborn of Ward's Wine Country Kitchen, Nick Atkins of The Restaurant at Fairview Mountain, and Campbell Kearns of the Wienery

Thank you to the sponsors, Kiwanis Club of Oliver, Castanet, Munday Media & Design, Oliver Eats Ltd. Rotary Club of Oliver

The musicians Jack and Jill, Toonmade Music school, Bianca Berkland, Rebel Luv, The Mudrats, Johnny Carwash and the Desert Dawgs, and the Racket.

The students from Senpaq'cin, and members of the OIB for welcoming us, and leading a singing and drumming demonstration.

And all of the fantastic market vendors, and service providers that participated including local food trucks: Vegabond, Sizzling Spice, Thai on the Fly, and Pitstop Smokery, and Fillosophy Refill Bar in the concession and activities like GottaGoat Farm and Amazing Bouncer Rentals Inc.

Of course, we cannot forget to thank the 35+ Volunteers and Oliver Ambassador Program for taking their time to contribute to a fun, safe and entertaining event!

The fun over the Roots and Fruits Expo weekend continues with a special Youth Only Solstice Swim at the Oliver & District Community Pool (tonight!) Saturday June 22!

Youth aged 12-16yrs are invited to swim and play games to win prizes between 6:30-9:00pm.
Regular pool admissions rates apply, the youth rate is $4.05 per visit.

Our Stay Safe course for children ages 9-11 is still looking for a couple more participants in order to run this Saturday June 15th.

This is a great opportunity for youth to learn the skills they need to make safe decisions when they are at home alone this summer!

Heads up Rotary Park users 👇

Please be advised that the lower parking lot at Rotary Beach will be closed from June 11 to 28 due to utility service upgrades.

The entry gates to the lower parking lot will remain closed for the duration of the project. Street parking will not be affected during this period.

Work is anticipated to take place between 7:00am and 5:00pm Mondays to Fridays and we anticipate that the parking lot will be open for public access for the weekends of June 15-16 & 22-23.

Please be aware that due to the construction project a section of the park will be fenced off.
