Sage Designs: Florals + Design

Back in July Emma flew down to Virginia to participate in a large scale floral installation course hosted by Sweet Root Village and The Floral Coach.

When she registered, Emma had to indicate if she want to do a ground arrangement, hanging, arrangement, or some sort of structural piece (i.e. attached to a structure) and Emma's decision was "Yes, all of the above please." Because Emma's always down for a challenge.

Emma reported back that the class information flew like water from a firehose and she took A LOT of notes. Even with 18 years in this business, there's alway new things to learn, and it's ALWAYS great to connect with other industry pros... they "get it" in a way that not many people can grasp. You have to be in it, you know?

It was a wonderful experience and we're so grateful to Lauren, Rachel, and Amy for sharing their tips, tricks, and techniques with us.

It's already been a month and a half since Falynn & Mac's wedding... HOW?! Time's flying by SO QUICKLY. 2025 will be here before we know it.

At any rate, we LOVED Falynn's wedding... not just because it's Falynn (we love Falynn), and not just because we got to attend and be guests (we decorate about 100 events a year and almost never attend a wedding), but largely, we love this wedding because Fal had a very special and specific vision of what she wanted to create for her big day and it came together so well!

The vibe was dark & moody with viking details sprinkled in everywhere. The photos by Joel & Jess are stunning, but one of my favourite moments was when we were standing around during cocktail hour and there was this incredible music playing... it was a throaty viking/celctic tune that was strong and rich and totally set the tone for the evening.

Love how Thimblecakes placed the flowers on T+P's cake. We typically wrap stems for our cake designers to make it cleaner and easier to insert stems into the cake... but Taylor's inspo was totally unique.

So, instead of wrapping the stems, we left them bare so that they could be cut to length on site. Then we used floral wire to create tiny green staples to hold the flowers in place. If you look closely, you can see them doing their job.
