Hey everyone! It’s been a very long time since my teaser about finding a new place (in March), so much so that some thought it fell through. Far from it, guys! 😊 I’m thrilled to share that KANTAN is settling into its new home... in Fitzroy (Yes! still in Fitzroy) Despite searching near and far, I knew this was the perfect spot during the inspection process—thanks to a customer who highlighted it to me. Natural morning light, underground waiting/function room, multiple washrooms, and a strong community vibe are some features I love.

I actually have walked past this location many times and never thought much of it, but when I reviewed the floor plan, the potential for a new KANTAN jumped right at me and so I negotiated the lease. The reno works was a long daunting process. Soooo much to repair and rebuild. Every tradie that came through asked me what happened to this place, and it made me question my decision sometimes. But then many of you saw me and stopped by to chat. You made me feel very encouraged and reassured that I made the right choice 😊🙏🏼 thank you!

KANTAN is now in its final leg of setting up. As with any project, there are always hiccups and challenges along the way, which make the journey fun and interesting 🤔. If everything goes to plan, KANTAN will open in time for Spring. My team and I can hardly wait to serve homestyle Malaysian food to the Fitzroy community again. It's good to be back. Wow, where has the year gone! Apologies, I have not posted any updates in such a while. I wish that you're all in good health. I'm so blessed to have many of you asking me about catering, wedding, when Kantan restaurant is going to open again, laksa pop-ups maybe, etc. Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping in touch with me, it's so wonderful to hear from you 🙏🏼❤️. Since my lease ended in July, I've been looking for a place that's suitable for service, catering and a bit of retail, but it's been a bit challenging and time-consuming. It may still take a minute, but I promise you, Kantan 2.0 will be something new-ish and exciting. So please hang tight! 😊 Lastly i cant express how I've missed cooking for you, chatting to you, my staff, organising events, birthdays, and most of all the Fitzroy community 😭 I do hope to see you all again in 2024!
