Thank you, Anna and Linden, for letting us cater your milestone birthday celebration. It was such a joy setting up and cooking the kind of homestyle food that carries memories — the ones that smell like childhood and feel like home. Customers like you remind me why I love what I do ❤️

❤️Selamat Hari Merdeka! 🇲🇾❤️

What better way to celebrate Malaysia’s National Day (31st August) than with the dish we honestly couldn’t do without—Nasi Lemak with Chicken Rendang.

Think fluffy coconut rice cooked with all the aromatics, our house-made, gloriously moreish sambal, and that slow-cooked, traditional chicken rendang that just… does things to your soul. We also include some extra steamed greens alongside those refreshing cucumber slices.

So many of you have asked us to bring nasi lemak back, and we listened. It’s up on our specials board this whole week—so come grab yours at Kantan while it lasts. ❤️

Such a fabulous time catering for the screening of Pacukka at the Research Lounge, Melbourne Uni — beautifully organised by Syaza, Nabhila, and Catherine as part of the 'Air Means Water' exhibition.

The project shines a light on shared and divergent histories of migration, colonial inheritance, and cultural identity, featuring works by Agnes Christina, Fyerool Darma, Amrita Hepi, Megan McPherson, Patriot Mukmin, and Shahmen Suku. ✨

The exhibition runs all through August — check the final panel for the Public Programs Calendar and come be part of the conversation.

Left with a full heart, new acquaintances, and the joy of being part of something truly important. 💛

Flipping through our trusty recipe books, I stumbled upon an Ottolenghi-inspired gem I just had to share—with my own little spin, naturally 😉. Ultra-silky tofu lounging in a zesty marmalade-soy-calamansi dressing, generously sprinkled with crunchy pistachios, peanuts, and crisp sugar-snap shards. Soft meets snappy, bright meets creamy - sunshine vibes in a dish, perfect for chasing away Melbourne’s winter blues! Meet Sunrise Tofu, shining on our specials board. Vegan, gluten-free, and sooo yum! 🌞✨

Hi guys, we are now closed for the holiday season and will reopen on the 7th of Jan
🌞
Thank you for all your support since we reopened in september. It was a big learning curve starting up a business again, with a small albeit amazing team and a big menu, but Im glad we've done it.
🌞
It was so lovely to see familiar faces as well as new ones enjoying our humble cultural food. Thank you! I hope to share more home-style recipes in the new year with you all. Wait for it, okay? In the meantime, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

❤️
Hisham
