Living in Canada presents unique challenges to those citizens who are experiencing homelessness. The daily challenge of being fed and housed is compounded by the harsh temperatures and weather that comes with Canadian winters.

Every year, Jericho Road teams up with Capital City Mission to bring awareness to the severity of the conditions that this population faces and raises money to help fund our programs. This year, on February 24th, we will again be walking 5km, no matter the weather. This year I am walking with the Walkley Walkers, one of the teams supporting Jericho and CCM.

As a smaller organization, we rely on the support of our community, and this event is a significant piece to that puzzle and the proceeds go directly toward the needs of those we serve. 2021 has been quite the year for everyone and I decided I wanted to get to my New Years resolution early! This past year I’ve taken a chance to connect back with my music which has been an incredible experience, but the most important journey I’ve taken has been connecting and reconnecting with myself. December 9th marked 1 year and 3 months since my last sip of alcohol and it’s been an incredibly liberating experience, although it came with its own set of challenges (which I believe now are opportunities for personal growth). I definitely can’t say that I did it alone, my support system has been incredible and 2 months in a rehab facility were integral; so I have so many people to thank for their Love. By taking this step in my self-discovery, I’ve been able to sit with a lot of the emotions that I had been suppressing, and through quiet contemplation and a clear mind, I’ve been able to untangle them to understand how I’ve been operating and how I’d like to operate going forward. Through the self-healing process, my reconnection with music has allowed me to express those emotions to myself and has helped me through these times and so - my New Years resolution is to create a musical experience with the backdrop of addictions and mental health that I can share with friends, family and anyone who wants to hear. The goal is to hopefully educate a little on the subject matter and to connect with those who might be struggling by themselves so that they don’t have to feel as alone as I did at times. My goal is to have this completed by the end 2022! This post is to let you know but also to hold myself accountable to it! If you see me out and about please feel free to ask me about it and hold me accountable too! Thank you to all the friends and family who have supported me, I Love you and I’m so grateful and thankful to have every single person in my life that I do. I’ve given the show a name, and that name is “Phoenix”.

Here’s a new song I’m working on!

As an artist I told myself that I would share more music and show people my creative process. This is very early in the process of creating this song (I started yesterday) - it’s messy and imperfect and that makes me anxious to share, but if I always waited for what I deemed as perfection I would never post anything 😂 and the truth is a song takes on many iterations sometimes before it gets its ‘flavour’.

If there are any artists out there who need a little nudge to share their work, consider this to be that nudge!

Hey everyone! As you may have noticed, I'm currently at a stage in my music where I'm experimenting with a lot of different sounds. I hope you're enjoying what I've been finding in my work and am always happy for constructive feedback!

On my Soundcloud you'll notice different icons beside the song and this is in my attempt to organize it all so you know what you're getting when you press play! The EV.Love on the beach icon is my more traditional music that I still very much enjoy playing, and this infinity loop is going to be the more experimental work. I hope this helps!

Such an inspiration when artists use their platforms to not only make peoples lives better through connecting musically, but also through their actions off-stage. I know I personally will try and use this example as a blueprint for my life and career!
