You don't need to wait until the snow melts to take your engagement photos!! ❄️ How cute is this outdoor skating engagement shoot?!

4 Tips for a Successful Winter Engagement Shoot:

1. Be creative with your shoot setting! - The background doesn't need to be boring (aka just trees). Play with elements that are only offered in the winter. Take advantage of the twinkling lights that have been set up for Christmas.

2. Bring an extra outfit. - Bring an extra jacket to easily change your look while you stay warm. Don't forget about the hats, scarves and gloves! These small changes can add so much more to your engagement shoot with minimal effort.

3. Don't forget the hand warmers & extra socks. - Trust me on this one.

4. Remember to buy your photographer a hot chocolate at the end of the shoot because -30 degrees is no joke 🤣

I'm so excited to introduce Katie Chen Weddings!

I'm completely in love with all things wedding — discovering your unique love story, the creativity, Pinterest boards and of course the spreadsheets. I've always had a passion for turning any gathering or celebration into something special, and wedding planning? That’s always been the ultimate dream. Now, I’m thrilled to bring that dream to life for couples in Ottawa and surrounding areas as a Day-of Wedding Coordinator.

This passion project started when I realized that despite months (or years!) of planning, many couples end up feeling stressed and overwhelmed on their wedding day — answering endless questions and managing last-minute details. I thought, "What if someone could take that burden off their shoulders so they could fully enjoy their day?" And that's when it clicked. My love for weddings, my organizational skills, and my passion for event planning all came together in this perfect role.

My goal is simple: to take the stress out of executing your big day so you can focus on soaking in every beautiful moment.

A little about me:

- I'm newly engaged and currently planning my own wedding (so I totally get it!).
- I share my home with two adorable cats.
- I've always got the ingredients to make an elaborate charcuterie board in my fridge.
- I'm also a bridal consultant.
