In 8 hours I will be marrying this wonderful man who loves and works hard to support me every day. (Security) So much so that the bride gift he gave me is an antique phrenology model! A quirky item? Possibly. But for me it spoke volumes about being seen, loved and appreciated for who I am. (Significance) I would say we're off to a good start.

Port Alberni really is the town that cares 💛 Had our wedding binder out at the Clam Bucket over dinner and got to talking with the server about it. Next thing you know she brought out a “Congrats!” dessert for us, so sweet!! (Sorry I didn’t get my camera out before the sparkler burned out 🎇)

Also, their new apple fritter chicken burger is as good as it sounds, fried chicken and crispy bacon inside a sliced open glazed apple fritter from Mountain View Bakery. Decadent and delicious! 😋

The wedding is just over a week away!! We’ve had some folks reach out to us about their RSVP status. We apologize for any confusion we’ve caused. ALL are welcome at the 3:30pm ceremony in the McLean Mill courtyard on 10/23. It is an open-air venue, but Nichole and I will still be donning masks to visit with everyone in the courtyard and historical site following the ceremony.

However, when we open the Grand Hall doors at 5:00 for dinner, only masked guests with vaccine passports who had RSVP’d through the website or emailed us with their RSVP in September will be allowed in and seated for the catered dinner. The reception after dinner and all dancing will be back outside in the courtyard. We will have large tents in place in case of any rain.

We’ve been figuring this out as best as we can, and I do apologize. Again, anyone who would like to see us get married in the McLean Mill courtyard at 3:30pm next Saturday is welcome to come, and I hope you’ll give us the chance to visit with you as a newly married couple!

12 days to go... as the countdown continues, with all the fun and work and dreams I am going to take a moment to think of this little tree. See it there in the middle of the rapids, its small self almost hidden in the riot of beauty around it?

I think about how deep its roots must be, and how the hidden support of the riverbed give the new tree strength. How the radiant glory around it might eclipse it from attention - but it matters not, the tree just continues growing.

Now because with me the thing is only sometimes the thing, I am thinking about our marriage, and how deep roots and hidden supports will give is the strength and resilience to thrive in the rapids of life.

Getting our invitation list down to the venue maximum of 100 people this summer was hard enough, but when BC announced in September that we'd be limited to 50 guests due to Covid restrictions, we had no choice but to simply stop accepting RSVPs at that point. So we've created this page to at least be able to share the planning and excitement for our wedding with everyone! Plus to share any news and updates with attendees as we get closer to the October 23rd date. Thank you everyone for your love and support 🌹
