✨ 2025 Summer Season Announced!

☀️The summer will feature the heart-warming romantic comedy, Ken Ludwig’s “Dear Jack, Dear Louise”, and the haunting thriller “The Woman in Black” by Stephen Mallatratt, based on the novel by Susan Hill.

💌Dear Jack, Dear Louise is an inspiring reminder of the best we can be, even in the worst of times. During World War II, a military doctor begins writing to an aspiring actress in New York City hoping to meet her someday if the war will allow. But as the war continues, it threatens to end their relationship before it even begins. Tony Award winning playwright Ken Ludwig tells the joyous, heart-warming story of his parents and their courtship during World War II. A poignant and engaging love story, filled with comedy and an uplifting sense of hope. The play will run from June 24th to August 30th, 2025.

🕯️The Woman in Black - In the shadowy corridors of an old Victorian theatre, a young actor meets a haunted lawyer compelled to unravel the sinister secrets that plague his nightmares. Together, they recount the tale of a young solicitor who ventures to the eerie marshlands of the English countryside to settle the affairs of a recently deceased woman. Brace yourself for a riveting theatrical journey through the unknown that will keep you on the edge of your seat and send shivers down your spine. This haunting play ran for three decades in London’s West End. The play will run from July 4th to August 29th, 2025

🎶And finally, the Watermark Music Series returns with three spectacular shows throughout the summer.

🎟️Season Passes (4 Pack, 6 Pack) are available now with early bird prices until December 31st at locarius.io/organizations/26 or call 902-963-3963.

A heartfelt thank you to the RBC Foundation for their generous donation of $30,000 to our Theatre Mentorship Program!

Watermark Theatre is proud to have completed its ninth year of this project, successfully training the next generation of young theatre artists. This past season, experienced professionals mentored interns in stage management, properties, wardrobe, carpentry/tech, and arts administration.

Watermark Theatre continues to be the perfect training ground—small enough to nurture and large enough to offer professional processes and high production standards. With few internships available across Canada, hands-on experience and training under skilled mentors is one of the best ways to learn and grow.

We are grateful to the RBC Foundation for supporting this important work and helping us make a lasting impact on the future of theatre.

Watermark Supports PEI Playwrights with help from the PEI Government
Watermark Theatre is supporting three projects by PEI playwrights funded by Innovation PEI’s Encore! The Prince Edward Island Theatre Revitalization Program.
Playwrights Melissa Mullen and Rob MacLean have been commissioned to write a new play based on decorated World War II veteran, politician, federal cabinet minister and provincial premier, J. Angus MacLean, based on his memoir Making it Home.
Playwright Jack King will receive dramaturgical support for his musical The Yankee Gale set during the 1851 storm that was the worst maritime disaster to hit Prince Edward Island shores. Jack will be working with dramaturge Pamela Halstead and musician Greg Simm.
Brynn Cutcliffe will be in residency with the theatre as its first ever Playwright in Residence. Brynn will be working on their new play Waiting for Her and receive dramaturgical support from Watermark’s Artistic Director. The residency is also supported by a PEI Arts Grant.
“I’m honoured to be Watermark’s first ever Playwright in Residence!”, says Brynn. “As an Island writer, it’s an incredible opportunity to focus on developing my work right here at home. It means a lot that Watermark wants to nurture my growth as an artist through this residency, and it’s so exciting to have Island theatres supporting new work creation.”
