I was fortunate that my timing of getting back into flying coincided with year 1 of SOAR (Save Our Airport Rally / Sarnia Ontario Air Rally). It’s an honour for me to help out with a great group of volunteers and sponsors who have raised over $40,000 for Pathways and at the same time, help bring to light that the city needs a cohesive plan for an important part of our cities future, the Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport.
As an international border city with a vibrant tourism and industry presence how can we not have a plan for our airport when we have one for our roads, bridges, tunnels and water access? There are very good reasons why the man who has viewed the world 🌎 from 400kms straight up, sees the importance of our airport. Colonel Chris Hadfield has been an integral part of all 4 years of SOAR and has already committed to next year’s event, Saturday, August 9th 2025.
Btw, I keep Ron’s airplane at a grass strip nearby. This isn’t about how does it benefit me. It’s about what’s best for our community.
