A Fine Fit Catering & Consulting officially opened its doors for business in October 2010. Because Thunder Bay has a high percentage of individuals requiring specialty diets due to both food intolerance and health conditions, we began by specializing in this area. Throughout the years, A Fine Fit has expanded to include event catering of all types, including weddings! Our niche has been creative b
ackyard style weddings in and around Thunder Bay. We also made the move in 2011 from cooking classes located at a local wellness centre to our newly renovated studio kitchen, offering an intimate culinary experience with dinner party style cooking classes. We have recently partnered with the local Regional Food Distribution Association to offer workshop style cooking classes that focus on team building skills for corporate groups. See details on our workshop page! A Fine Fit has always been about quality food, starting with the ingredients. We avoid the use of processed or preserved foods whenever possible and use only pure ingredients rather than pre-made mixes and sauce. Our from scratch approach affects our entire menu, from our marinara sauce to our stock to our salad dressings- even our stock is homemade! Having simple ingredient lists will protect those with a food intolerance, as many allergens are hidden in pre-packaged and processed foods. As our city is home to many quality local producers, supplying meats and cheeses, stone ground flours and other grains, a variety of vegetables, foraged foods such as mushrooms, Boreal birch syrup and wild berries, and even our own cold pressed canola oil! Since the beginning, we have gotten to know many of these producers personally, and have slowly incorporated more and more local products into our menu. Now, A Fine Fit Catering & Consulting is proud to promote and celebrate our local producers by not only featuring local products in our food, but also using pottery by local artisans and locally sourced eco-friendly and compostable disposables to serve that food! This not only helps the client experience a “taste of place” but will also prove a healthier option as food will not need to travel long distances, losing nutritional value in the process.
