I’m always posting pictures of beautiful flowers 🌸 but in the background there is reality🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s been an exhausting season so far dealing with the rain, then heat and countless hours trying to keep up with the weeds.

The following pictures are a glimpse of what has been a struggle so far this year.
🌼Cerinthe, I love it but I use it for about a week, then it gets overgrown and spindly. It’s getting the axe next year.
🌼Bells of Ireland, another favourite but it gets brown spot every year and takes way too long to prepare, also off the list for next year.
🌼Then there are crop failures. I lost half my strawflowers, half my delphinium drowned, lost a quarter of my snaps 🤷🏻‍♀️, I lost a third of my field dahlias to rain and last but not least, I lost my entire aster crop to Aster yellow.

Thankfully I have a lot of flowers thriving 🌼🌸💐.

This post was inspired by talking about her hardships and I think it’s a good idea to share with new flower farmers so they know it happens to all of us.
