Nina's Story
One morning six years ago, while eating her peanut butter and jelly sandwich for breakfast, my daughter (who just turned 2 then) had an anaphylactic reaction. Within seconds, she started itching, her eyes and lips became swollen, she had an outbreak of hives all over her face and body, she was red everywhere and coughing uncontrollably. And our
life, especially our diet, was never the same since then. This life event prompted me to venture into this (really) small business. At first we ordered cakes from various places. They were all sooo pretty, had awesome designs and done by pros! But I found that they were all too sweet, heavily frosted and relatively expensive. I did ask one baker to alter the sweetness for me, but he said they could not. (You must know, there is science behind all recipes.) I took some cake decorating classes. Bought cake supplies. Created this page. Ordered business cards. Told a few teachers and parents about it. Moved into our new peanut free house. Tried several recipes using less sugar. And the rest, as they say, is history. My daughter is now 8 and wants to be a pastry chef! Isn't that providential? Where this journey ends, I'm excited to find out.
