Seventeen years.

Seventeen years of muddy paws, quiet companionship, unconditional love, and a bond that changed my life forever.

When I rescued Caicos, I thought I was saving her. The truth is, she saved me.

She taught me patience, loyalty, resilience, and how to find joy in the simplest moments. She was there through every chapter—every celebration, every heartbreak, every ordinary day that somehow felt better because she was in it.

Lately, I’ve found myself thinking about what life will look like without her, and it’s a thought I can barely hold onto. How do you prepare to say goodbye to a soul who has been part of yours for 17 years?

For now, I’m choosing gratitude. Gratitude for every walk, every cuddle, every grey hair on her sweet face, and every moment we’ve been lucky enough to share.

No matter how much time we have left, I will spend it loving her the same way she’s loved me all these years—with my whole heart.
