Today joining a workshop „Crafting your own style“ in Edmonton, AB. start at 8 till 530 pm. We do pretty cool stuff. Learning the tricks from Donald Yim, AIFD. The first piece, A rustic design with birchwood as a framework. And some mossballs with all fresh flowers, Calle, Roses, Orchids, Plumosa Fern.

Friday March 8, 8 women for the flower arrangement workshop in West Van arts room at the community Center, it was a great morning. We worked with Sideau, the 100% biodegradable floral foam fom Agriwool.. Some of the Art work looked like a miniature garden, very special with Viburnum and double petals Tulips and pink Hyacinths and Spagunum moss.
Do you know that each color of a Hycinth has a different fragance? For that reason Hyacinth are used to create Parfums.

Environmentally friendly floral foam, 100% biodegradable. Made from 97% basalt mineral rockfibers and a binding material that is also natural. You can even reuse it! Tomorrow we will work with to create a nice spring floral design. # sideau floral foam design

Flowerwindow; art with dried strawflowers on a bed of Grevillea and some accent with grass from my yard. I bought the flowers on the farmers market in Kitsilano and dried
The Strawflowers are from riverandseaflowers they have a very nice selection of local grown certified organic flowers. This piece, when kept indoors will last forever. The colors makes you happy and do not fade it suits every type of space. The longer you look the happier you become. driedflowerwindow

Visited the Botanical garden in Phoenix, AZ. A great visit and learned a lot about cacti, especially these huge cactaceae cought my eyes, so beautiful, lush, also called Ogan pipe, well easy to guess why.

Last August i dried some red and blue locally grown strawflowers in my dark and dry basebasemt. I was amazed by how much they have shrunk. It was an experiment for my following experiment, watch my next post.

Officially summer is nearly over.. it has been a long and warm one. Still enjoying the Zennia’s. The seeds i planted quite late, but these are strong easy and colorful like the next season. Enjoy!

Today i had a group of 10 at a beautiful S living Amica at Taylor Way. they absolutely loved it. In this pic some of the results. It bought back many great memories of these lovely poeple that once owned a beautiful garden.

Carnations are as strong as a bear, this one only need a bit of water and doesn’t move.. maybe a little give away for a newborn or to cheer up a kid.

A very special plant, this time the Turk’s cap cactus also called Melocactus native to the Caribbean. A reddish cap tops the cacti, it got its name from the resemblance of a Turkish fez hat. The purple flowers and fruits are edible, iguanas and lizards love them I learned, but humans too apparently.

With some left overs from yesterday’s workshop. Experiment growing the moss in a bowl, watertubes tucked in chicken wire holding up the flowers. It is that simple.
