Our wedding officiant, Martti Pajunen, was fantastic! He surpassed all expectations, delivering a ceremony that felt tailor-made for us while still maintaining tradition. He was engaging and warm and we received many compliments from guests on our ceremony. Martti was always very professional and checked in with us often during the planning process. Martti was an absolute pleasure to work with!

He exudes kindness, empathy and compassion. He is so professional and helps you to understand the entire process in such an easy and fun way! During our wedding ceremony Martti helped to share our love to story with our family and friends in the most special way, and he also helped to integrate cultural elements into this speech. This meant so much to us. We were SO lucky to have had him as our officiant.

Hey Martti!! Thank you so much for making our wedding so amazing! Everyone was raving about how awesome you were and how amazing the ceremony was! You made it so light hearted and everyone loved your humor. You did such an amazing job! Hi Martti!

Thank you so much, it's been a blur getting home.
We thought you were absolutely spectacular and made our ceremony just amazing. You kept going through that storm and calmed our nerves all throughout. Your words were really lovely too and we will remember them for our whole marriage. The rest of the day was perfect- we couldn't have asked for anything else and we had so much fun kicking on from the ceremony. You started that day and we are eternally grateful for you being part of it.

I was honoured to lead the memorial service for George "Chip" Lehman today, champion hot rod and stock car racer, husband of 57 years, father, grandfather, and life long member of the The Roamers Car Club of Guelph. He influenced many people and has left a wonderful legacy.

Martti, just wanted to send a huge warm hug filled THANK YOU for being there for Derek and myself this past weekend… this may sound crazy as we don’t see each other often anymore- but you feel like “home” to me. Having you marry Derek and I was what I wanted from the start and I feel so blessed to know you.

With the news of the upcoming lockdown in Ontario, here is some important information for couples planning their wedding...

1. If you purchased your Ontario Marriage License between October 2, 2020 and February 10, 2021, the license is still valid until February 10, 2023. In regular circumstances, your marriage license is only valid for 3 months.

2. In Ontario, couples cannot be married virtually, like over Zoom. The couple, their 2 witnesses and the licensed Officiant must be present physically at the ceremony. Guests may "attend" virtually by video conferencing.

Please reach out to me if you need further information on these or other matter related to getting married in Ontario.

03 03 21 Control

The remote control is one of my favourite devices. It allows me sovereign reign over my TV screen entertainment choices and is one of the few areas I seem to have any control these days.

So much of our world is out of our control as well as out of control.

I believe in the doctrine of the sovereignty of God over the affairs of the world. But it’s hard. The trick is to do the balancing act of both trusting God and living responsibly. Living as if everything depended on God and working as if it all depended on me.

So, even in my imaginary world of remote control, changing channels from The View to Dr Phil to watching the Maple Leafs (just kidding, I don’t watch The View or Dr. Phil), I am invited by God, to let him be God and for me to be me.

So, we all continue to work together. We take care of our health, get enough sleep, grant forgiveness, eat well, speak honestly, wash our hands, read, and say I love you often. These things are under our control.

But we also trust God for our daily lives as well as for our futures. Even when things seem out of control.

Christmas is about waiting. Waiting for Santa. Waiting in line to get groceries. Waiting for that someone special to arrive home. Waiting for boxing day sales.

But originally it was waiting for the Messiah.

Simeon and Anna were two older believers who found the wait was worth it (Luke 2) when Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple as a new-born to be presented to God. When Simeon saw the baby Jesus, he picked Him and said, "Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel" (Luke 2:29–32). The wait was over. Messiah had come.

2020 has been a waiting year. Waiting for the lockdown and gathering restrictions to end. Waiting for a vaccine. Waiting for this all just to be over.

Sometimes our faith is a waiting game. That’s what makes it faith; believing the unknown timeline God had sovereignly designed for the world and for us is truly worth the wait.

As people of faith, our role is simple...be faithful. Be faithful, even during difficult and trying times. Because even as we wait, Jesus waits along with us. He truly is Emmanuel…God with us.

On behalf of Karen and me, we wish you all a blessed, safe and Merry Christmas, as we worship Christ - born in Bethlehem, crucified on Calvary, ascended to Heaven and coming again.
