Set your budget and stick to it! Before you make any decisions about your wedding or book your venue, you must determine your budget and minimum guest count. I suggest allocating 45-50% of your total budget to your venue and catering and then prioritize all other vendors and divide the remaining among them. It’s also important to hold approximately 5% of your budget for unexpected expenses that may arise. For example, your dress may need extra alterations you weren’t expecting or you may need to purchase or rent umbrellas if it ends up raining on your wedding day. You don’t want to start off your new married life together with unexpected wedding debt. Happy planning to all the couples out there! 💍

Lighting is a very important element of a wedding ceremony and reception that is often overlooked. Wedding lighting has always been a vital part of the design process to enhance decor as it can completely transform a space. Lighting will help emphasize the areas you may want to bring attention to such as the head table, cake table and dance floor. While there are endless options when it comes to lighting, I have listed a few ideas below:
✨Use string lights to create an entire ceiling or canopy of lights.
✨Accentuate your head table using uplighting on your backdrop.
✨Use pinspot lights to showcase smaller areas such as your centrepieces.
Recently there has also been a trend of couples opting for custom lighting. This is a definite way to create a more personalized and memorable experience for yourself and your guests!

Hi there, my name is Jessica Bell and I am a new Certified Wedding Planner servicing London, Strathroy and most of southwestern Ontario. I recently completed the Wedding Planner, Coordinator and Consultant course through the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada.
