I know we all try to shop local and sometimes it just isn’t possible. I get it.

But when it comes to your flowers, it only makes sense to use a local florist. Did you know there are companies online who claim to be local but are not? Here’s how to spot them:

* they often appear near the top in Google searches due to how much money they spend on advertising
* there is no physical address (either on Google or their website) to be found
* they tend to have countless options for you to order that often seem too good to be true (low pricing, no delivery fee, etc etc)

These companies are called Order Gatherers. They collect the order, find a florist who is willing and able to take the order, and then keep a finder’s fee for themselves.

This results in the customer spending more money on flowers than necessary, and rarely getting what was ordered anyway because none of us consistently stock the vast variety that these people advertise.

If you’re ordering flowers online, save yourself a few bucks and contact one of your local shops directly. We can tell you exactly what we have, when it will be delivered, and if there’s an issue we can help you resolve it directly without a corporate middleman complicating matters.

Don’t ever hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I’m a local, just like you.

My favourite part of floral arrangements at Christmas is the wide array of wonderful winter foliage. So many varieties of pines, spruce, cedars, hemlock, cypress and more! They bring so much texture and woody fragrance to each arrangement.

These greens will dry out quickly in the house. Keep them well watered and also lightly spray them everyday. If you’re really going for longevity, keep it in a cool spot (ie garage or basement) when not being displayed.

And just a friendly reminder not to leave lit candles unattended. :)
