The simple kindness you show to your animals comes back 10 fold. Hope loves her daily scratch, and l always look forward to taking a few minutes with them and seeing her and the rest of the herd growing fast every day. Gotta love farm life.

63 years ago Laika became the first animal to orbit the Earth. She died in space; alone, in agony, and terrified.

She was a stray who was plucked from the streets of Moscow, selected for her small size and bright coat (that would show up nicely on film.)

She passed away five hours after she was thrust into orbit (although for over 40 years the truth was covered up and officials insisted she was alive for days after take-off.)

She died due to overheating. The satellite wasn’t sufficiently insulated from the sun’s rays, and she essentially cooked to death.

The Soviets admitted that they never planned for her to make a return trip, and knew she would perish in the experiment.

“Laika, the first animal to be launched into orbit, died from overheating and panic in the tiny spacecraft – all alone and in severe pain.”

“The more time passes, the more I’m sorry about it. We shouldn’t have done it.”

Remember Laika and the millions of other animals needlessly used in experiments worldwide each year ❤️

Rainbow View Farms would like to welcome our new gelding Seymour to the herd. It was a hard decision to find a new team mate after the loss of our great gelding Sam. Seymour will make a fine addition, and he looks forward to giving many wagon and sleigh rides.

An amazing day at ParrySound Maplefest this past Saturday. We would like to thank Frank Camenzuli and his whole team for inviting the boys up to give his team of Perchron mares Lightening and Katrina a hand giving wagon rides to all those who attended this year’s very successful event. We are looking forward to next year’s Maple season.

I had adopted her but she refused to come away with me. It was weird because dogs can't wait to leave the kennel. She was crying and stubbing her paws. I should have dragged her. But when I looked down I understood the reason and I had to make a CHOICE "When the time came to take her home she was just out of that cage, from that moment a new world awaited her, a wonderful life and a lot of love. Any another dog would have run into the embers of her rescuers. But she did not. She stood still, sticking to all fours and refused to come out of the cage. In a corner a small Chihuahua Taco looked at her in fear. She understood that she was about to lose her her best friend. And in that moment a small miracle happened. The couple saw the whole scene and decided to adopt them both. They did the documents also for the chihuahua and all 4 went out the door of the shelter. was taken in the car, before leaving. Personally I would like to wish these two dogs a happy life full of love !. But above all so much happiness also to these two wonderful people ❤️
