• Tablecloth and Placemats: Start with a clean, well-ironed tablecloth that complements your dinnerware. For a more casual setting, placemats can be used instead.
• Napkins: Place napkins either to the left of the forks or on the plate. For a touch of elegance, consider folding them neatly or using napkin rings.
Arrange Dinnerware Properly:
• Plates: Place the dinner plate in the center of the setting. If you’re using a charger (a larger plate under the dinner plate), it goes down first, with the dinner plate on top.
• Bowls: If serving soup or salad, place the soup bowl or salad plate on top of the dinner plate.
Position Flatware Correctly:
• Forks: Forks go to the left of the plate. If you have multiple forks (e.g., for salad and main course), the smaller salad fork is placed on the outside, with the larger dinner fork closest to the plate.
