Before clubs and controllers, there was Jimmy Savile—credited with hosting the world’s first DJ-led dance party in 1943 in Otley, England. He played jazz records on a single turntable to a live crowd, changing how music was experienced in public spaces.

This event marked the beginning of DJ culture as we know it—vinyl, decks, and an audience ready to move.
