11Sept2023. -6C overnight following a forecast of +3C. One of the earliest killing frosts I can remember and while I covered a few sensitive plants jus in case, I was completely unprepared for this level of cold. Completely decimated the zinnias cosmo, celosia. Even the dahlias that were covered were damaged beyond repair and stopped blooming altogether. It was the nail in the coffin for 2023… 👎🏻

A quick 2023 field season recap 🩵 and only a month after new years! 🥴😂🤷🏼‍♀️. To be frank, there were an inordinate amount of challenges in 2023 - most of them substantial. But I chose to focus on the stuff that won the battle with Mother Nature this year when making this reel. There will always be sh*t that goes wrong - ALWAYS. But that’s the realities of farming. Sometimes things just do not go to plan. 🙂 Keep calm and flower on, people. 🌸

More bits and bobs! 💗 Ranunculus have arrived!

The Salmon ranunculus have started blooming! As have the snapdragons and irises! They are just getting warmed up, but will be gaining ground and producing more and more blooms over the next few weeks. I can’t wait to start getting some flowers out the door. 😃

Seedling tour!

Quick tour of the first batch of seedlings to be planted out! They are nearly done hardening off, so once the forecast is above zero over night they’ll be going in the ground! 🎉

Happy Friday flower folks! 🌸 I’m doin’ a bit of lunchtime weeding to get the beds ready for planting! 🌱 This particular bed is covered at nights as it already has flowers planted in it, but this middle portion is currently unused. So the weeds have just been living their best life here... until today! 😄 Fingers crossed this weather stays warms and I can get some plants in the soil soon! Have a great weekend everyone!! ☀️ 🍻
