It’s been a hot minute, so let’s do some (re)introductions!

We’re Amanda and Kate…wifeys, besties and business partners. We like to think our business is pretty rad, but we thought we’d take some time to tell you about us:

•we are proud foster parents. We have 5 kids at home right now! 👶🏻
•we love animals…we have a 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 bunnies and a litter of kittens right now 🐱
•Amanda met Kate in a little bar in London - Kate’s band was playing a show there and Amanda decided to take her shot 💘
•Amanda proposed to Kate the following year, at that same little bar 💍
•favourite pizza toppings = 🍍 + 🫒 (guess which one is who’s?!)
•we have a shared love for spooky season 👻 🎃
•we fight over who has to kill the spiders at home 🕷️
•Amanda is the better cook. Kate is the better handy woman

We’ve really enjoyed getting to meet so many folks in the community, and making so many connections. Thank you for following along on this journey 🤗

We’re still here.
We’ve been quiet. We’ve been reflecting. We’ve been turning inward, because sometimes the world is a cold, hard place.
But, we’re still here. We are healing. We are trusting in what the universe has in store. And we are gratefully celebrating our clients who have been married so far this year 🤍
Please forgive our silence for the past several months. We haven’t gone anywhere, we’ve just been in survival mode. We are on our way back and excited to see our friends at upcoming wedding shows. Xo

Have you considered including a Smudge Ceremony or Land Acknowledgment in your ceremony? 🪶 This was such a special touch for us. Sage is traditionally used during ceremony to clear negative energies, cleanse the couples mind and ground them before they make their vows to one another ♥️

It’s 2024, folks. It’s time to shift your branding and marketing!

Being an ally is much more than saying yes to same-s*x weddings, or wearing a rainbow pin once a year to celebrate pride 🏳️‍🌈 It actually means educating yourself, speaking out and advocating! It means LEARNING and GROWING - because when we KNOW better, we can then DO better 💪🏻

5 Tips for Becoming an Inclusive Vendor

1. Normalize Pronouns. Did you know that even if you identify as a straight cis-gendered person, folks in the LGBTQ+ community will automatically feel safer if you share your pronouns? Even better, provide an option on your intake form for potential clients to also provide their own pronouns.

2. Ditch the gendered terms in your marketing - I can’t stress this enough! Marketing to the bride and groom is no longer working for you!! There are so many other terms you can use… happy couple, life partners, etc. Get creative and think outside the box!

3. Diversify your imaging. So many folks are watching. Stop assuming that only white, heteros*xual, able-bodied couples are getting married. Your photos need to include bi-racial couples, disabled couples, same s*x couples. If you are truly an inclusive vendor, don’t forget about these visible minorities - it’s important for everyone to feel welcome.

4. Educate yourself. This is where we get real. We’re all human, and we all make mistakes. As society and culture evolves and shifts, and as newer generations take hold of the up and coming wedding seasons, we are experiencing a vast amount of change. If you want to be a successful vendor, you need to keep evolving. You are bound to make mistakes. You are bound to offend or hurt someone. as long as you’re committed to continual learning, and as long as you remain open to feedback and suggestions, then you’re doing just fine 🫶🏻

5. Did you know that globally, 2.2 BILLION people are vision impaired? And 2.5 BILLION people are hearing impaired? These folks are getting married, too. And, they won’t be hiring you if they can’t access your content. It’s time to give the ole’ website an update!

Hi 👋 We’re Amanda & Kate, newly “The Channers”, and the face behind Loud & Proud Weddings and Events!
We are a q***r couple, residing in the small town of Bright, ON, with our family.

Amanda is a Licensed Pastoral Chaplain and Wedding Officiant, & wedding coordinator. Kate is a talented musician, DJ, sound technician and future wedding officiant!
