That look 😍😍
Congratulations to Laura and Nathan! This beautiful wedding was a delight to create for. Laura and Nathan knew exactly what they wanted: an intimate backyard wedding with their closest family and friends.
Lauras colour picks and decor choices were fun, elegant, and unique. Natural and a bit wild with blue thistle, eucalyptus, and delicate white lisianthus and cosmos, with accents of pink gomphrena and statice and purple mint flower: inspired by the colours of her stained glass pieces! She also requested a very special table centre, built around an antler rack she provided.
May your marriage be like your garden: tended with care and abundant with love ❤

A belated full congratulations post to and .bernard !

This wedding was a challenge and a thrill. When Mel messaged me asking about putting flowers on bikes I might've screamed at my phone in joy and excitement. This is my JAM!

Bringing this vision to life involved foraging for berries and moss, negotiating with difficult olive branches, and trying out some new techniques to keep these flowers looking fresh for the whole ride. I loved every minute of it!

If you look closely, some of the teeth of these cogs bear the wear marks of the miles they've travelled. Through dust and dirt, gravel and asphalt, they've seen a lot, and they'll see much more. 👁

How to bring fall vibes, without orange feat. custom grown glass corn.

These cobs represent the third or fourth generation away from the original seed I gave my dad. A cob of glass corn is a beautifully wrapped package of wonder and delight of colour, like precious jewels. These have crossed with all sorts in the garden, and have lost some of the extreme colours they had in the past, but I am still so proud to include them in my bouquets. Thanks Dad!!

Do you know about the story of glass gem corn? Cal Barnes, an Oklahoma farmer of Cherokee heritage, saved ancestral corn varieties and reintroduced many that had been lost to the original Native American farmers. The glass corn emerged from crossings between these ancient lines and now preserves this and many other varieties for future generations!

These gorgeous babes were sent on their way this morning for a beautiful backyard wedding.

This combination turned out so deliciously eclectic, fierce blue thistle and punchy dahlias with delicate cosmos and flowering mint with toooonnns of eucalyptus. Did you know some of our local growers grow eucalyptus?! I learned just this season!!

This post is a bit overdue. My delivery bike has been STOLEN. So far it actually hasnt affected any deliveries or events (like a good bike mechanic I have several project bikes) so this post is simply to ask for help. If you see this grey bike with square baskets in front and back, please call police!
And don't worry. I've been plenty busy here at Botany by Bike in spite of the lack of bike. Fancy florals are coming up next!

First Fruits

I wrote this just before lughnasadh last week and then market prep got me so busy I forgot to post it!!

Waking up on the eve of lughnasadh to a red sun is a bit surreal. But then, being able to wake up to delivering flowers by bike feels a bit surreal. Its the time of first fruits of harvest, expressing gratitude for what our plans and efforts have brought, and I want to thank each and every one of you. Every order, every like and share and encouraging word and emoji, every cyclist friend shouting encouragement on my delivery runs, all of those collective efforts have yielded the fruit of MOMENTUM.

So have a beer, bake some bread, go berry picking. Enjoy what the land has to offer and take not what you are owed but what is freely given.

This is also a great time for completing projects and boy howdy. Do I ever have some fun stuff planned ;D

This weeks offering is a love note to my highschool goth self. She would've hated the pink though. Hated it!

These are big handfuls of flowers too. This bouquet is so abundant, with comfreys spent bells and pennycress coins holding up scabiosa, zinnia and echinacea blooms, and dramatic burgundy hibiscus and black pearl pepper foliage filling it out for full effect.

Head over to botamybybike.ca to get your botanical art fix for the weekend 🌺

Floral tour-everything but the secret ingredient!!

Fellow makers and creative minds, do you ever see something that strikes inspiration like lighting in your heart? Like that moment where the muse doesn't just speak, she screams. I selected each crazily different texture and colour you see here just to match one very special ingredient. Nightowls get this visual treat now-but you'll all have to wait for the full composition tomorrow!
