It's so nice to work with a crew who is totally into doing a photoshoot. Makes my job so easy and fun. As Universal Flooring Systems is going through a rebrand I've been shooting a lot onsite with their own installers. Talk about teamwork and efficiency! It's like watching ants who know exactly what to do and when with such precision and attention to detail. I find myself thinking, CAN YOU SLOW DOWN! I want more frames! There is no slowing down. I love the pace.

Working with NEXT Compression on nearly 40 projects over the last 7 years, has made me grow as a photographer. As I review older images in their gallery I can see how my style has changed, I'd like to think for the better. Lighting industrial equipment has become a genre for me and has developed into a service offering used by many clients fabricating process skids for the oil and gas industry in Alberta and around the world.

Working on Universal Flooring Systems rebrand. So glad the crew didn't mind too much me being in their way.

First time I was at this site in SE Calgary was when we were shooting for Doublestar Drilling. They were installing some of the longest concrete piles I've seen. The massive crane was needed to lower the long cages into each hole. Over the next few years I revisited the site for Pomerleau. Documenting project progression is always very cool. This section of riverbank was slowly sliding into the Bow River. To keep the McKenzie Lake houses in place Pomerleau built a "retaining wall". As most of the wall is actually below ground the complexity of the project is hidden from view.

I love timelapses! 😁 It just gives such a compressed perspective of the world around us. Calgary Cancer Centre before it was nothing more than a hole in the ground. Shot for of course.

I really miss the airport, abuzz with people heading towards adventure. This set is from a very complex renovation to the Airside Connections Corridor and the YYC LINK. The design was led by and significantly changed the way people move through the YYC Calgary International Airport, . The YYC LINK is a custom-built compact transit system. Super cool! It earned the 2017 Ella Anderson Accessibility Award.

I remember buying my first LEDs from Radio Shack when I was 15 years old. I'd make them light up in sequences ... for fun. They took 10mA to power. It was the coolest thing on the planet as far as I knew. Turn the clock ... a little bit ... and LEDs are more common than incandescent lights. They're literally everywhere, in any colour you like and consume a fraction of the power they used to. The George C. King bridge has an LED string on every stanchion. Each LED on each strip can be individually controlled. Each stanchions is like a line of pixels on a TV screen. You know where I'm going with this. Every 15 minutes, there is a short "video" being played on this bridge. Very cool effect and worth checking out. Spears + Major, a client from the UK, were behind the lighting of this bridge in Calgary.

Here's a short video ad we put together with the Flashed crew. First time working with RAW video! The workflow is quite intensive and the files take sooooo much space, but the results are well worth the extra effort. Thanks to Jelisa Dunbar for putting in a lot of burns on the problem.

When you have a remote camera setup to take shots every 15 minutes, you don't have to camp out each night to see the sunrise. This one had great colours.

When you drop your Pocket Wizard, and it rolls under the vacuum truck and onto the roadway, and then it gets run over by a car ... and you find that it still works well enough to finish your shoot ... you know you've bought the right piece of gear.

Lately, thanks to CANA Construction and CANA High Voltage, I've been getting my aerial fix. First at the new 500kV substation under construction near Edmonton and more recently at the National Music Centre in East Village. That last one most certainly broke my personal record for crane assisted photos. Awesome! It's days like these that make you say: "I love my day job!"

Had the pleasure of working again with athletes Klemen Premrl and Tim Emmett. Also had the pleasure of lowering into the abyss from above. Something I've been planning in my head since the first trip 2 years ago.

Pretending not to be intimidated by Helmcken Falls, aka. The Crater of Death. Things could be worse, I could be climbing behind the waterfall with Tim and Klem. Great job on the second ascent.

I drove out to Elkford BC a few weeks ago. The place is known for its open pit mining. And where there's mining, there's bound to be the biggest trucks on the planet. The job was to shoot the manufacturing plant where they build the buckets. The biggest facility I've shot to date. I only wish they had a truck inside. My 4 year old was very impressed.
