It would be easy for me to say that I’m a photographer because I love taking photos. Although that IS true, it’s about much more than that. Ella Photography started as a rebellion and ended with a goal to make a change. When I started taking photos in the fashion industry, too many people would compare themselves to my photographs. Photographs of people that had been fully retouched for advertisin

g purposes. So frustrating that I decided to change industry all together. I needed to take photos of people. and me. People that, from time to time, seem to feel down and wish they were more. However, I believe that life doesn’t have to be like that. Everyone is beautiful and everyone needs to feel that they are. I’m sorry, I tend to babble when I talk about my business. But it’s all true. I take photos of people so that they see that they (and their life) is awesome just the way they are, no change required. I photograph bo***ir, weddings and families because I want to show you how amazing you, your day or your LIFE is. And enjoy the photos for years to come. My style is natural with a touch of awesome. Yea, that’s a thing. I promise. I’m a girl that does love to take photos but I also have a goal to redefine what the word "perfect" means by making you feel beautiful and make you feel comfortable about being yourself. I’m located in Montreal but also serve New york and travel worldwide. I offer personalized service: You make your own package, I (not someone else) shows up when YOU want and I'll be your little helper for the day. I retouch your photos one-by-one and I answer all my emails and phone calls. I'm one person. Not a multi-national company where you don't know who shows up for your wedding and most of the time, they don't even talk to you. I do EVERYTHING in my company. I'm also extremely honest and get really hurt when people yell at me and think that I'm not. I am human - Surprise! Like all humans, I learn about life and about myself, everyday. I make honest mistakes along the way (paperwork is not my thing) and I learn from my mistakes. However, I will offer you the best experience you ever asked for. Along with awesome photos ;)

Portraits were needed for C… and portraits were delivered.

This cool cat (yea, i said it) came fully prepared for our shoot together a few weeks ago. He had a bag FULL OF OUTFITS and interchanged them flawlessly on the streets of Montreal.

Other than my GPS messing up and detouring me a FULL HOUR AND A HALF… everything else went AMAZING. Oppsie. Thankfully C was so cool about it. I’m forever grateful for my beautiful clients. We got a awesome sun, crazy variety for background, and C totally turned into a model in the 2 hours we were together.

A reminder that you don’t need a specific event for portraits. You should be doing them to have for yourself. You are worth capturing all on your own. ♥️♥️♥️

I got to be honest. Just before the pandemic happened, I almost gave up weddings. After 10 years, I had my dose. Then, everything stopped and all my last weddings got pushed close to 3 years. So I couldn’t quit!! And man, I’m actually glad I didn’t. I took that time to reflect and decided to change some things instead. I got clients that reflect more my values and views and I built my confidence to finally shoot weddings alone (yea! believe or not.. I still wasn’t doing that :O) Funny enough, that’s mostly was made me like weddings again! Editing is so much easier when it’s all your images! Ouuffff. Culling is my least favourite thing about photography 😂😂😂

Don’t get me wrong, weddings are still hard AF. Crazy lighting (which i love now!!) Fast movement, long timelines, Hard of the BODY but… I gotta say… they are worth the images you get from them. There’s no other event like it.

These two got married at L’espace Canal, on the terrase. The weather was perfect, the people were all helpful and in a great mood and there was loads of love in the air. Even though I spend Sunday on my bum from being so wrecked from carrying my cameras around, I was so happy I was there to capture it.

May I give you a small tour of my studio? It’s a real private apartment located in the south-west of MTL and i’m opening it to people who would need a space for small shoots or meetings. It’s set up to do bo***ir but there’s a large space in another room to do portraits. There's also a "living room" to welcome your clients as well as a makeup/changing room. Oh. And a full kitchen. It has loads of light (with some direct light at the end of the day) but I also have some flashes if you need. In case you should be interested, DM me. You are welcome!

Sometimes weeks do not go as planned….
Work has been crazy, I have an unstoppable cough, can’t shake off a migraine and now I have a DOUBLE eye infection! A double! And it’s pretttyyyyy bad. Had to cancel all my plans including my hair appointment. No purple hair for me i guess.

Went to an emergency clinic this morning and am currently on antibiotics. My body is stresseddd out. Got two cold sores and now I started my month early? Wait.. was that too much information? Oh well! We are family right?

Im not normally one for baths… but I think i’m going in a bath. Good thing i’m not shooting this weekend. Have a great weekend, everyone! Enjoy these pretty pics 😅😂😭

It’s been a little while! I’ve been catching up with work like crazy before the holidays so that I can make sure that everyone gets their photos before Christmas. How are yall doing? I should be arrested for not sharing this shoot sooner. Ridiculous. Such an amazing time with Leslie, Elias and Vita the husky.

This is a great example for people who ask me “can we do the shoot with our animal(s)?” To which I always answer DUH! Please bring them all!! Having an animal on a shoot can be overwhelming for them though so it’s always important to consider bringing someone with you to watch the animal while we are doing photos without them. This gives them time to relax away from the “excitement” and it gives you a bigger variety of photos. Also, loads of treats and a big walk BEFORE the shoot is also an amazing idea. Especially if you have a husky 🫣

The walk back down the aisle is one of my favourite moments during a wedding. The emotion is always very hard to keep inside. Raw feelings all around showing that they can’t believe that they just got married. 🥰 always makes really fun photos. Of course, It always helps to have some props too.

There is no bigger honour for a photographer than the honour of photographing a growing family. From the engagement, to the wedding, to baby bump, to the kids, I photographed Stephanie and Ben for the last 10 years ♥️🥰 We did a sunset shoot at a local park, learned to make bubbles, ran around, had snacks, played at the playground (yes, we can absolutely do that during the shoot), and Nathan showed me how good he was at starting to walk. There’s too many cute photos here so i’ll post some of our activities as a part two ;)

I have THE BEST clients. Not only because… well, LOOK AT THEM... but mostly because if we run into a situation where we pick a spot that happens to be: WTF WHY IS IT SO WINDY… they don’t complain! They go with the flow and we make the best of it.

It was all smiles and laughs with C+S in pointe-claire. Especially when my eyes could NOT stop crying due to the wind. 😂😓 Looks like I saw enough through my lens though cause these images are 🤤

It’s a little tough to pick 10 photos over 400 taken with my x70 but i’ll try. From my journey from Montreal to Edinburgh for move. We took a plane, boat, bus, taxis and train. Took 3 days but we got there eventually 😂

First stop Amsterdam to the boat.

Officially back from Edinburgh after 10 days. I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Gotta make a blog about it soon. What? Is A BLOG still a thing. Yes! Yes it is. In the meantime, time to get back to work and deliver all these beautiful weddings! Almost done A+J then we working on J+J!

Wedding season takes a big toll on a little [Ahem older] body. The nightmares about anything going wrong prior to the day, The stress about making sure everything is backed up multiple times, the shooting and retouching of sessions in between, The emails, contracts, calls, meetings, bills, and everything else that comes with it…

It’s a lot. It’s only makes sense that most photographers tend to have a burn out half way in and cry of relief when it’s over.

For me, last sunday was my last wedding. Ouuuffff.

To take a few moments to center myself, I always make sure to book an overseas contract or trip to finish everything off with a bow.

This year, I got the opportunity to head to Scotland for just over a week. So here we are!

Fear not, however. Many sessions and weddings have been sent in the last few days and the rest are still on schedule to be delivered by the time it’s due.

Thank you so much for all our support in this crazy journey (which is going on 14 years!) You are all incredible! ❤️

It was the perfect weather so we took a stroll around the Old Port of MTL just as all the lights were turning on around the city. Excuse me while I look at this shoot over and over again ♥️

These two came to MTL for a week away from California. To remember their trip, they decided to invite me to go walk around in Le Plateau to capture it. Smart people these two ♥️ I approve.

Not only that, but this allowed me to discover A LOT of new spots in our dear old town. Who knew that we had a street that looked like Las Vegas at sunset? Before they left, we rented some too! But we’ll have to wait for the next post for those photos ;)

J+J got married last weekend on Sept 15th 2023 in a beautiful outdoor setting. It was awesome to see that Mother Nature and I are still tight because the day before... IT. WAS. COLD.

Challenging myself and looking out for something new has always been my superpower… and my curse. I live out of the comfort zone. I have a need to grow and continue on out of what I have now. Sometimes, this is a great thing and something it’s just proof that I can’t sit still and RELAX for a minute 😓🥹

It could be as extreme as wanting to love in another country or… shooting an engagement session in the dark. 🫣 although small, we were always shown in photography to chase good light (open shade anyone?) and never EVER bring up our ISO in fear of grain. Who knew that 15 years later we would be ADDING grain to images Hahahah.

With these two beautiful people, we decided to go shoot at 7pm and wait for the sun to set, and… we had so much fun!

Very very excited to shoot their wedding next year.
