Happy long weekend everyone! Hope you’ve been enjoying yours as much as we have! Yesterday was yet another day for us - honouring the beautiful L&B, a couple who could not be more deserving. Though the rain clouds paid us a short visit, they were sure to bring only good luck and enormous amounts of happiness were felt by all. A giant candy station, perfectly colour-coordinated bridal party outfits, and the cutest ring bearers and flower girls EVER, made for an A+ celebration! Special note of thanks to Natalie from the Beach House for her seriously stunning stationery, design, and decor skills! She is ah-mazing! & Shoutout to all the vendors who helped us with their “I do” day! .marie .a._limousines 😊

How is tomorrow September already!? 🤯 Weddings are still in full swing for the Heyday team - finishing off the month by celebrating T&B! A private property affair that mixed elegance and perfectly. A ceremony and cocktail hour overlooking Cordova Bay, then a rustic barn reception that blew every guest away. Bonus : The bride and groom could not have been a more duo. Let’s chat wedding guest attire! 💃 With so many different dress codes out there, how do you select the most appropriate outfit? Keep reading to find out ‘What to Wear to a Summer Wedding as a Guest’ ().

If the invitation says...
FORMAL - Men: Tuxedos, Women: Long, shimmery fabrics
SEMI-FORMAL - Men: Dark navy or grey suits, Women: Maxi dresses
CASUAL - Men: Khakis and suit jackets, Women: Floral, flowy dresses and sandals

For colours and fabrics, the only ones to steer away from are:
- Champagne or Beige (some exceptions apply)
- White (unless you’re the 👰‍♀️)
- Whatever shade the bridesmaids are wearing (makes sense, right?)
- Glitter (the focus shouldn’t be on you)
- Denim (too casual)

Hi friends! How was your weekend!? 😊 We were lucky enough to be on the Gulf Islands celebrating A&S! & When we say , we mean it - this wedding was 17 YEARS in the making! 😭 An afternoon affair that had unmatched views, out of this world vows, and basically every yard game ever made - it was the backyard BBQ of everyone’s dreams! A highlight of the day: The slideshow put together by the groom, followed by the most special day-of photo montage that left not a dry eye in the room - including us! Sigh! We are SO happy for you two! Shoutout to the vendors who helped us with their “I do” day! & all of the other vendors who don’t do the Instagram thing! 🤪 xo.

Tomorrow marks one year since R&A’s wedding day! Barb Walker (Owner)] always takes on one Heyday wedding a year & to close out our 2020 season, this was it! A private property event with a stellar view of Brentwood Bay for a couple who waited 4380 days - 12 years, people - to say their ’s. It was certainly worth the wait! Filled with personal details, hilarious & heartfelt vows and speeches, and lots of hand sanitizer, it was one heck of a day to remember forever! They even had a full feast to fill everyone’s tummies & a little bit of rain made for not only good luck, but a first dance under a rainbow. So special. Congrats lovebirds! Cheers to another year in the books and a lifetime more! xo.

1 year ago yesterday we were spending a gloriously sunny day at the Prestige, celebrating C&R. What a day, what a couple, and so grateful for all the vendors that came together and made this happen for them, while we were all still “figuring” out how the heck to do a pandemic wedding. 😂 The day started with a seaside ceremony under the gazebo, followed by a reception in the grand ballroom, and ended with a romantic first dance and sparkler send off. With less than 30 people, it made for a wonderfully intimate experience. Thank you both for letting us be a part of it! Congratulations on your first year of marriage and all the rest to come! xo.

Hope you had an awesome BC Day friends! ☀️ We know we did! The Heyday gals got to join the fabulous Barb Walker (Owner)] for a HOT weekend on Denman Island! We stayed in a storybook Bed & Breakfast, took in picturesque views at every venue (yes, there were multiple), and witnessed two breathtaking brides tie the knot (and ) with their loved ones. It was team bonding at its finest, and we loved every minute of it! & Just like that, we’re on to the next one! xo.

Today we reminisce on the most exquisite celebration that was last year’s August 1st wedding. A day-long Bilston Creek Farm event that was all about close family, friendships, and a love story. The weather, the venue, and the vendors were a dream. With the smell of lavender, tasty food and drinks, and to-die-for decor making it complete. We loved every second of watching these two gorgeous people get married. (I mean just look at them!) Happy Anniversary N&M - we are honoured to have been able to share your forever day with you. This time last year we were having a safe summer get-together at the Planners’ Supper Club hosted by ! 🧺 Held at , we gathered with fellow ladies from the Vancouver Island wedding industry for a fun physically distanced evening. We started with a glass of and a tour of the property, then each planner bubble got their own stylish picnic space thanks to , along with florals from to brighten up an already beautiful setting. We enjoyed individually boxed meals created by , refreshing wine, and ended the event with the yummiest of all time. It was the most wonderful way to spend a warm night in the midst of a wacky 2020! Count us in for a repeat any time! xo.

We’ve got the same look on our faces because we are officially in nonstop wedding mode! 👰‍♀️ From now until October we have and Heyday weddings every single weekend! Happy 1 Year Anniversary to two of the most beautiful people we’ve had the pleasure of celebrating! From the first time we met J&C we knew they were perfect for each other and we couldn’t wait to help them start their forever together! & We are so happy that their was still able to be the joyful occasion they so deserved! A ceremony with ocean views, a backyard dinner/reception under the summer sky, and personalized touches through and through - it was a real life movie. A smiled-so-much-our-cheeks-hurt kind of day. Are you a Yay 👍 or Nay 👎 for wedding games!?

When it comes to reception activities, is always a favourite! Questions such as: “Who has more clothing? Who is most likely to fall asleep during a movie? Who has the better shower singing voice? Who is the better dancer? Who made the first move for a kiss?” Always bring on the laughs! “DIY Tip: A great way to get guests involved is by giving each person a stick with a picture of the bride's face on one side and the groom's on the other. When each question is asked, guests can hold up the picture that corresponds to their guess.”

Another interactive option? Try the I Spy Wedding Game! Get your guests to take photos of the things they can find, like: “A group selfie. A picture of the bride in her dress. A funny face. A kiss. A sparkling drink. A tasty treat. An old-school dance move. A person laughing. A table clinking glasses. A favorite decoration.” “DIY Tip: Print up cards to place at each guest's seat or create a sign or chalkboard with the instructions. If you want your wedding photos shared on social media, include a hashtag so you can see all the fun from your wedding games.”

On this day last year two of our very favourites got married! In the small window of light that was 2020 events, K&R were able to keep their dream date and have an intimate wedding celebration! A ceremony at The Oak Bay Beach Hotel followed by the backyard garden reception of our DREAMS - plan B was more like a plan P for Perfect! The decor was to die for, the smiles were contagious (even with masks on, it was obvious), and the weather could not have been more stunning. From the greatest family, and flowers, and food, it was everything amazing and then some! We couldn’t adore these two kind humans more, and will always have a special place in our hearts for their magical day that was pure love. Cheers to you both today, always, and forever. You deserve every second of your happily ever after. We love you! xo.

Need a laugh? 😊 Kids often give some of the best (and most honest) advice. Especially when it comes to marriage! One of our past Heyday brides asked her Kindergarteners for their pre-wedding words of wisdom. Each of these were displayed at the reception for guests to read and smile & we hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we did!

Caleb (Age 5): “Be nice to each other.”
Ford (Age 6): “Don’t give a big kiss only give a little kiss.”
James (Age 6): “Do not have kids.”
Markos (Age 5): “Love each other.”

Speeches can be one of the best & most hilarious parts of a wedding, or they can be, uh... awkward. Wondering what to do if you have to give one soon? Read these “5 Tips for Giving a Perfect Wedding Speech”, courtesy of , and you’ll be ready to round up the smiles in no time!

1. Remember who’s in the audience
2. Record yourself while practicing
3. Avoid alcohol prior to speaking
4. Use note cards if needed
5. Keep it short and sweet

Extra tip: “Don't forget body language! Rehearse the speech in front of a mirror and notice things like your facial expression, eye contact, and hand position.”

Well, we’ve been teasing it loads, and are SO excited that the day is finally here! Welcome to the “refreshed” Heyday Events! It’s been 8 years since I first launched Heyday, as the sister company of @frenchkissevents, and after the last crazy few years, it felt like it was time for a facelift ;) Over the past 8 years, our team of planners has been HONOURED to be part of hundreds of celebrations, and has become known as some of the most professional, experienced & trusted planners in Victoria. Our team continues to grow, and includes coordinators from all sorts of backgrounds in the event industry. It’s their years of experience and true JOY for what they do that makes us who we are, and I hope that this new look reflects them more than ever. Our updated site is still in the works, so for now, here’s just a sneak.
