I've been thinking about alterations. You might think that you only want to add or make a small change to your dress. Any additions or deletions you make to your dress is a big deal primarily because once they are done there is no going back Always research what you think you might want done. That sexy little slit to your dress might be something you are serious about. Once you start researching the slits on other dresses you will notice where the slit falls on your leg. The position could be dead centre or more to the side on your leg. Does the slit has top stitching etc. My other observation is "how high is too high". When you sit down that slit will probably creep up higher. Request to speak directly to the seamstress and have the alterations estimate in writing. Make sure you clearly communicate what you want to have done and that there is a meeting of the minds. Ask around to friends and family who they have used for their alterations or if they can recommend someone. Price is always a factor, but the quality of their work should be the deciding factor. If possible I would want to see some of their altered garments and check the seams etc.

Buying a veil online. You can buy veils online but here is something to consider. A Bride bought a veil from overseas and was so happy to purchase a cathedral veil with lots of lace. The Bride told me "it was so cheap." Upon inspection the Bride saw that the tulle was torn in numerous places. It was possible to repair the veil by removing some of the lace and putting it over the tears. That would be delicate work and not cost effective if you had to pay to have someone fix it. So if you are considering to purchase a veil from overseas be sure to inspect it carefully when it arrives and choose a seller that has a return policy.

What is happening with Bridal Fashion for 2025? I am going to call it "Let it Flow." Bridal gowns are flowing A-line skirts and Ball Gowns made with materials that dance as you walk. New is Illusion tulle wrapped once around your neck with longtails. Shawls that blend into your dress train and detachable skirts. Bows are large and are made to be seen. Pearls, pearls, pearls. For your Bridal inspirations look at the Bridal Fashion shows from designers that are showcasing in Europe .

I have been watching Bridal Fashion shows online for the 2024-2025 season. Some of the designers have been creating some beautiful gowns with more boning and sheer materials. Two Shows really made an impression on me. Justin Alexander's show in Milan for 2025 Spring Bridal Wear was a standout. His collection really pulled ahead of the rest by adding color to his gowns and veils. Of course some of his veils and gowns were not my taste but remember it is about offering something new. Secondly I saw my first Sposa Curvy Bridal Collection from Milan for Spring 2025. I can tell you, I have seen over 20 runway Bridal Shows lately and these two really stood out. If you are looking for your Bridal Dress check out the runway shows featured online.

Recently I was in Brisbane Australia. When I travel I like to look at their Bridal mags and bring some different ones home. Interestingly enough Brisbane no longer carries Bridal magazines. Every book stand and retail store I checked had an empty shelf with a small sticker saying "Bridal Magazines." I happen to chat with a destination Bride at Brisbane airport when I was coming home. I asked her if she had noticed that there were no magazines and how did she purchase her dress. The Bride said "I never thought of looking for a Bridal Magazine. I just went on line and ordered my gown." I believe there is still great value in going to a Bridal shop, trying on different styles of dresses and ordering from the Bridal store. Most of us have some experience ordering online. My advise is to do your due diligence. When you are ordering from the internet are you dealing with an online store or buying directly from the designer? Make sure you are placing your order at least six months before your wedding date and that they have great return policies, etc.

I've been working with butterflies on my veils for several years. It was really great to feel like I was a head of a trend when I opened a Canadian Bridal Magazine last week and there was a veil with butterflies. Brides when you are looking at Bridal dresses or veils that have 3d flowers, butterflies, birds etc, those details are usually hand sewn onto the garment or veil one at a time.

Brides do you have Grad Gowns and other nontraditional dresses on your radar when you are shopping? On the runways in the last couple of years I've seen: Powder Blue ball gown, Black Mermaid dress, Red Ball gown and a Canary Yellow Sheath dress. Each dress had a matching veil in the same color as the dress. Be who ever you are. There are no rules.

I have some thoughts to share regarding wedding dresses that have been cleaned and boxed. Sometimes a Bride will have her wedding dress cleaned and boxed with plans of keeping it. However things change and she has decided to sell her dress, An important thing to remember is it is more than likely that the dress has not been thoroughly inspected or repaired before it is cleaned. The Bride selling the dress probably will not want to take the dress out of it's packing for you to try on or inspect. With that being said it is buyers beware and take the dress as is.

Brides we find our ideas by looking at magazines, the internet or? I just read a couple of quotes I wanted to share. When you are researching remember: "take the ideas yo see from runway to reality" and " turn runway looks into everyday vibes". Stick to your budget and avoid the temptation of trying on gowns or accessories that are out of your price range. When you look at yourself in the mirror breakdown what it is that makes you love this dress. Is it: the cut of the skirt, the low back with the buttons, the off the shoulder straps or ?. Leave the store with all the information and sleep on it for a day or two. Usually the dresses have to be ordered and made, so unless you are buying a sample there is no urgency. Don't let the sales person pressure you by saying we are placing a big order in the next several days so if you don't order it now we won't be placing another order in another few months. I know finding the perfect look is stressful but enjoy the journey.

Brides as you begin the journey for your dress here are a few things to consider. There is your personal style, current wedding dress trends and ?. I think ? is very important. When you let yourself look at other options that you might not normally consider you might just find "the one." Don't forget to check out some of the smaller Bridal stores too. If you are thinking of purchasing from a private seller be sure to check the dress out thoroughly. The seller might say that it has not been altered but you should be able to tell by looking at the side seams. The bottom of the dress can have tears from getting caught on rocks or the heals of the Brides shoes. Definitely take one or two people with you that have a keen eye to help you inspect the dress. Good Luck Just my opinion.

Brides as you begin your journey what is inspiring you? I have a some designers and fashion networks I follow on Face Book. Designers do not always include Bridal Fashion in their collections but they still have something special to offer. Fashion Feed, Harpers Bazaar UK, Manish Malhotra Bridal couture 2023-2024, Timeless Elegant Wedding Dresses by Studio St. Patrick and RFBStyle. I look at the details in each piece including color, fabric and how the fabric moves. I hope that these give you tips on how to make your look unique.

Brides I hope you are all doing well and your plans are coming along. I had initially wanedt to launch "It's all about the Veil" by July. Well things haven't progressed as I had thought it would. I will be having surgery on my arm October 27, 2023. Realistically I will be unable to take appointments until the New Year. However if anyone wants some tips or a consult feel free to message me and I will do my best to assist you.

Well I am still working on my portfolio of 6 Veils. I want to make something different than what you would not typically find in a Bridal Salon. It was extremely rewarding finding dresses for my Bride to wear. It's all about the Veils so the dresses are not the focal point So far I have purchases all the dresses from market place and a vintage store. The 5 dresses in total were under $125.00. Expecting to get everything done and posted by July 1, 2023. I hope you will enjoy the post. Looking forward to your comments positive, negative or how I could of improved the look. just my opinion miss Jude

Brides what shoes are you wearing for your wedding? I know we all have wish lists but this is one area that I would take a second look at. So many Brides are buying designer shoes and selling them after the wedding day. Who even saw your shoes? You probably flashed your besties and they gasped and giggled at what you spent. There was a time when close to the end of the evening where the bride and groom would change clothes in preparation of going on their honeymoon. This is where you could show off your fancy shoes. If you don't have anywhere to wear those shoes after the wedding don't buy them You always can buy them at a later time.

Brides while on your journey for that special dress be sure to check out grad dresses. Lots of these gowns can be made in white or other colors than the sample dress. Unfortunately as soon as you say "wedding" pricing for everything seems to go up. This spring headbands are a fresh look and can be worn with or without a veil. just my opinion miss Jude

Brides as you start your journey for finding your perfect dress I suggest you try looking at Market Place. Some of you might not be planning on buying a preloved gown, however this site will give ideas of styles and pricing. Some posts will say the origin price and then the pre loved price. Sometimes the seller will not mention that alterations have been done. Look at the seams for tell tale signs of different sewing stitches. Dresses that have been cleaned and boxed. I would assume that the dresses that have been cleaned and packaged but might not have had any mending on tears and rips. Materials such as silks and satin have a tendency to shrink with some dry cleaning methods, so the sizing and the way it fits can change from the original size. If you decide to look into a dress for sale by a private seller be sure you can try it on. The seller might not allow you to try the dress on and that is including cleaned, boxed and preserved dresses. I suggest to walk away if try-ons not permitted. With all preloved clothing it's "buyer beware."
