Have you ever tried living in the moment, the past, and the future all at the same time?
Thats my life. The life of a “solo-preneaur” as calls it.
The planning, ex*****on, and celebration of moments all seem to overlap, (and in some cases pass you by) especially in the hot hectic summer.
But I’m doing my best. Plenty of my events haven’t made it to social media (yet) and I’ve got lots of “Thank Yous” still left to send. A few “your welcomes” too.
June and July 2024 were unforgettable! Im still very much basking in the memories of the past six weeks. Made new connections, saw some old friends, and partied with strangers, teachers, and family.
I’m greeting August with a lot of excitement. There’s five weekends this month, so I’ll have an extra week to do what I do best.
I’ll try to carve out some time for myself as well 💆🏽♂️

Can we admit that December 31st may not be the right time to make our annual resolutions?
I think the desire to be anything but broke, bloated, and freezing - symptoms of The Holiday Season - disguises itself as a motivation, when it’s really just a cry for redemption from all that overindulgence. And we fall for it every year.
I prefer to check myself Labour Day weekend. To FINISH the year strong. Most of it has passed but there’s still enough days (and sunlight) to course correct.
Also, remember that time we went to school for over 14 years in a row? September was exciting!! It’s like New Years Eve Jr.
So…..What promises are you behind on? What resolutions do you have for the remainder of 2023?

Here are some tips to help you win at the podium 🏆MENTAL TIPS:1. ✨ CONFIDENCE: Learn the timeline and practice name pronunciations with whoever hired you. This is 90% of success. 2. Remember ✨THEY’RE NOT HERE FOR YOU! Facilitate the happy occasion and move on. 3. Roll with ✨MISTAKES. Nobody else knows whats supposed to happen. If you miss a cue, don’t spend energy on turning it into a cheap laugh, just move on. 4. ✨SILENCE is you Best Friend. A well placed pause will keep your guests attention. Rambling will lose it. TECH TIPS: 5 Hold the MIC ✨ like Bob Barker, not Biggie Smalls. Keep it between your chin and your chest. To prevent popping. 6. Project your VOICE✨ Speak to the back of the room. 7. ✨Avoid leading with “Is this thing on?”. Do your mic check before guests arrive.
Thinking back to the Ostler Wedding. I was their DJ & MC and delivered their laid back oldies style vibe that they dreamed of. A sweetheart of a couple, and I wish them nothing but the best.

Cavin James Wedding & Events
Cavin James has quickly become one of the most sought after entertainers in the Greater Toronto Area for weddings, corporate events, and other private functions.
His attention to detail and willingness to work with you and your guests is what sets him apart from the standard Wedding DJ.
As event host and MC, Cavin connects with your guests and creates the feeling of a fun, family gathering, rather than a stuffy, “well-to-do” wedding or work function that we’ve all grown sadly accustomed to.
When it comes to the dance party, thats when Cavin really shines! With ample knowledge of different music eras and genres, Cavin is one of the best at reading crowds and adjusting his playlist accordingly to fit whats happening in the room at that moment. This is what keeps your dance-floor packed and your guests happy.
Cavin James Entertainment offers DJ services, MC services, lighting options, and event planning.

Background: Cavin’s passion for music started early. His father played guitar and introduced Cavin to the music of Clapton, Benson, King, Simon, and Santana, while his mother recited classical music on the piano in their living room and introduced him to Jazz and contemporary music. There was also plenty of Bee Gees, Earth Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang, and Motown ready to be cued up to dance to. All of this helped arm Cavin with a keen ear for sound, and an appreciation for different musical genres.
While Cavin was known as the ‘music guy’ among friends, it wasn’t until a DJ mentor of his convinced him to play an opening set for him at a Silent Party in 2016. Although Cavin had already performed a hand full of private functions including a wedding, this was to be Cavin’s first public appearance. He did not disappoint, capping an early electro set with classic Hip Hop and R&B throwbacks. Cavin finished his set to the applause of the crowd, and the rest is history. Cavin parlayed his debut at a small cafe on the Danforth, into a budding DJ career. He has since entertained thousands of guests from Peterborough to Niagara....and this is just the beginning.
