Starting your wedding planning journey? Wondering whether to secure a wedding planner or a venue first? Here are some key questions to ask yourself before diving in to ensure you start off on the right foot.

Q: Have you decided on (and agreed upon!) a $ amount that you're comfortable spending?
Q: Are you very familiar with the area and ALL the venue options?
Q: Do you know what to look for and what to ask when selecting a wedding venue?
A: If not, book an experienced planner who will show you venues that align with your vision, guest count, and budget (so you’re not wasting time looking at venues that aren’t viable). They’ll know the pros and cons of venues and can explain a venue’s inclusions and considerations like rentals, restrictions, and any hidden or unexpected costs.

Q: Is your heart set on a specific venue?
Q: Is it the only place you can imagine your wedding?
Q: Is there limited availability?
A: Enquire and see if you’re able to put a short hold on your date (if possible without a deposit and signed contract). Then book your planner so they can give you honest guidance, allocate your budget out, and suggest any alternate venues you may not know about that could be a fit.

True Story - I once had a couple come to me (in a panic!) after booking their dream venue and dream band and....that equaled 75% of their budget! Please don’t do that! I can help!

Hello 2025!
After a recharge over the festive season and a year of learning to create balance in my life (and stick to it!) I’m back with a fresh focus for 2025.
This year, I’m excited to be expanding our services to include corporate, association, and not-for-profit events.
Rest assured; we’ll still be offering our full wedding planning service but will be taking fewer weddings moving forward to ensure we continue to provide the same exceptional experience for all our couples.

Sometimes brides have a clear vision for their bridesmaids’ dresses, like opting for a formal black-tie event with sleek black gowns. While some worry this color might feel too somber, we’ve seen it done beautifully! Check out a few of our recent weddings where bridesmaids rocked stunning black dresses, proving this classic choice can be both chic and timeless.

One thing I always recommend prioritizing when choosing dresses, is making sure your bridesmaids feel comfortable and confident in their dress styles. We all have unique body types and features, so inviting your bridesmaids to share what makes them feel their best can go a long way. Whether you choose a uniform style or mix-and-match designs in the same color, like these brides have, the result is sure to be fabulous!

For many of my couples, the Okanagan is a dream destination for their wedding, and it’s easy to see why! Some choose to showcase the valley by hosting their ceremony and reception in two unique locations.
Great idea, but here are a few important considerations when planning:
1) How are your guests getting to, between, and from the venues?
-Many guests may not be local and may not have a vehicle, and likely to partake in a drink (or a few!) during the event so we recommend shuttles for getting them there, between venues, and home safe.
2) Don't lose the party!
-Start your ceremony at a time that easily flows into cocktail hour, then dinner, and dance (keeping the venue move in mind). If you have a long time between ceremony and reception, you could lose your guests to other activities (like the beach, or the bar!).
3) Making it pretty!
-Decide whether you want a cohesive theme for both locations or different vibes for each and ensure you discuss when you book your decorator and florist. For an additional fee (but less than full decor/florals in two places) they may be able to repurpose items to keep the look and feel and keep costs down.
4) Money, money, money!
-Before booking venues, make sure you have the budget for more than one venue as there are often rentals, staffing, food & beverage costs you may not have thought of. Your Wedding Planner can help lay out costs for 1 vs 2 venues and what if anything can be utilized at both.

I love when engaged couples reach out with a blank slate - no venue, no vendors, just pure excitement!
Guiding them through the wedding landscape from day one is my specialty. I start by carefully allocating the budget, so every dollar has a purpose, and you have a clear idea of what you can afford to spend on a venue, which is our starting point!

A family home - what a special place to hold your wedding!
The main thing to remember though ..... it is a HOME! It takes a lot a lot of planning and effort to make it into a VENUE to be able to host your favourite people. If you're hiring a planner, you'll want to ensure you're bringing on someone who is experienced and well-versed in making a family home & property into a magical (and well-thought out!) wedding space. We've got oodles of experience in this! We do site visits and research, we know what's needed, what works (and what does not!), we know layouts, tenting, rentals, there's often power, water, and additional washrooms to consider - and all this is before there's a ceremony or people being fed! We'll also ensure that along with a Plan A, there's a Plan B, C, D, and E!

Lovely little weddings had to be the norm during that dastardly pandemic. And we're finding that some couples are still wanting to embrace the beauty of an intimate ceremony and reception with their closest family and friends. And I'm a big fan! It's a way for you to spend quality time with your most favourite people and with a smaller guest count you may be able to spend more on what matters to you most like a multi-course wine paired dinner, the gorgeous chairs you really want, or extravagant floral arrangements.

It's always so great working with Lauren and her team at . It helped to have a bride who is incredibly stylish with impeccable taste! These gorgeous chairs brought the whole design together (but were a higher priced item) so Lauren was able to create the look our couple dreamed of by moving some design items around without sacrificing visual impact so the chairs got to stay. It's never too early to start collecting inspiration photos of things you love. Keep them all in one place and when we start working on your design we can go through them with our designer and keep or remove looks and ensure the overall look and feel is just perfect for you. These inspo pictures don't have to all be wedding related. What do you love (this could be anything!). What colours inspire you? Do you like texture? It all helps describe your very own style and vibe.

In honour of National Treat Your Pet Day, Eddie’s been living his best life with a breakfast-side of cheddar cheese, chasing (and then chewing) on his @chuckitfetchgames Ultra-Squeaker (only the blue one with orange will do!), and a tummy rub.
