After the crowds of hockey fans departed from Ship Point there was LOTS of work to be done. In eight hours we cleaned up a site with 14,000 sqft of Tents, rentals, and portable Washroom Trailers. Just a HUGE shout out from Jayne & me... to our Family, Friends and Staff for pulling off a fabulous event at Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. YOU ARE the Best! ❤️ The all-star was definitely Chris Vassallo 🌟🌟🌟 who spent eight long nights ensuring that nothing—not snow or wind or rain or anything else—would keep this project from being the best ever. 🏆

Back to our “regularly scheduled programming” here at Ship Point for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada 🇨🇦🏒⛄️

Things are back on track today for Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada activities at the Ship Point site on Victoria's Inner Harbour!
Come down this afternoon to test your target shooting skills from noon to 4 p.m. in the Kirby's Source for Sports rink, and check out the action on the community synthetic ice rink, where ex-NHL star Wendel Clark (1-3 p.m.), former Canuck stars Kirk McLean and Nathan Lafayette (3-5 p.m.) and members of the Victoria Royals Hockey Club (5-6 p.m.) will coach young local players.
The dry rinks will also be busy, with games in the Greater Victoria Minor Ball Hockey 3-on-3 tournament and Victoria Police Department NHL Fan Zone streetball happening later in the afternoon.
Then tonight it's the Alumni and Celebrity Classic game at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre starting at 7:30 p.m.

Wanna see the Stanley Cup? Yes please!!! The historic, shining beauty of a trophy will be in Victoria for all to see during Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada 🙌 🙌 🏒🥅😃

Pro sports trophies don’t normally have a lot of mystique attached to them. Except one: the Stanley Cup.
The holy grail of hockey since 1893 – the most recognizable championship trophy in North American sports – will be front and centre when the national focus is on Victoria during Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada Jan. 20. It’ll be on display at Ship Point on the Inner Harbour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a stop at the Songhees Wellness Centre also in the works.
Few area residents still living, if any, were around when the Patrick brothers’ upstart Victoria Cougars beat the Montreal Canadiens for the cup in 1925.
When it comes to cup winners with local connections, many more locals likely watched former Victoria Grizzlies Hockey stars Alex Newhook (Colorado, 2022) and Tyler Bozak (pictured below with St. Louis, 2019) hoist the trophy, or hometown boy Geoff Courtnall and his Edmonton Oilers outlast Boston for the title in 1988. And while he played just 70 NHL games total, Victoria-born Bruce Cowick made the most of his playoff call-up in 1974, winning a Stanley Cup with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Other players with city connections have lost in the cup finals, most recently Saanich Peninsula products Jamie Benn in 2020 with Dallas, and Matt Irwin with Nashville in 2017. Former Victoria Cougar star Mel Bridgman’s Flyers lost the final in 1976 and 1980.
