People often ask me if creating weddings flowers is my favourite... maybe it seems like the most fun a florist can have??

But my answer might surprise some, as Celebration of Life, Funeral, Condolence and Sympathy Flowers - by any name you wish to call them - will always be my favourite. Those moments in life where the absence of a loved one is filled with thoughtful gestures to ease the grief and special touches help celebrate them as we try to say goodbye.

This beautiful family requested I fill one of their father's favourite vases and create three wreaths, one from each of his daughters.

It's always an honour and I hope Larry would have loved this garden inspired bouquet!

It would be a logical conclusion that someone with 10,000 photos on their phone would share them on social media...right?! Not the case! The busier you keep me the less I post 💐💐💐 but trust me, I'm not complaining!

I love these Cherry Brandy roses 😍 and one lucky recipient was so pleased with her birthday bouquet that she was kind enough to call me this morning to let me know 🥰 what a wonderful way to start my day.

I'm just obsessed with these ranunculus! 😍 I love this limbo season between Christmas and Valentine's Day influencing designs.

Wish I had gotten more photos of them in the different arrangements that went out. But I'm glad I managed a few of this special birthday arrangement.

One goal for the new year is to spend more time showcasing the beautiful flowers that come through the workshop! Like these Hellebores 😍

Some days just go by way too fast... if I'm lucky, I'll capture a quick photo to share with the customer prior to sending flowers out for delivery.

Other days, when the lighting is just right, I'll manage to capture a glimpse of the majestic flowers we are so lucky to work with. Even better, are the times when I can photograph finished floral arrangements and bouquets outside of my workshop and in the beautiful daylight they deserve.

Hopefully, you'll start to see more photos in the future...but likely no fancy reels. That's highly unlikely. Sorry Instagram/Facebook 😆 I don't need your algorithm that bad!

Happy Father's Day!

Today also happens to be my 12 year wedding anniversary and also sadly 12 years since I lost my Dad to cancer. Having my Dad at our wedding was really special. Even though his diagnosis was already terminal, the extra time we were given with him was nothing short of a gift.

People often ask me about our name CLAEREN FLOWERS. Claeren is my maiden name and this name always makes me think of my Dad.

Fun Fact - my Dad was the first one in our family to take his florist design courses, years before my mum and I.

Happy Father's Day. May this day bring you special memories of the time you have spent with the "fathers" in your life.

The time change is a bit of a struggle for me, and it takes me a few days to get back on track. Listening to birds chirp in the sunshine makes it a little bit easier. While I watch our backyard rink finally melt away and daydream of spring...

It's also fun to have flowers on my table while I work! We hosted a birthday party last week for my amazing sister-in-law and these beauties are still hanging on strong!

What helps you get through these first few days after the time change? I'd love to hear your tips!

Happy International Women's Day

I am beyond grateful for the strong and gracious women in my life.

My mother Pat has always been an amazing role model. She works diligently to lift up the people around her while also trying to improve herself. Her sweet demeanor has made some foolish enough to underestimate her! But this lady with a heart of gold is no one's doormat. She is resilient and full of love despite everything life has thrown her way. Pat's motto - "we're a team!" A motto I remind my own kids of constantly.

We will always be a mother-daughter business - as my mum is my biggest support in every aspect of my life....but you may notice that Pat has stepped back significantly over the last two years. She has really pushed me to take more ownership over our business and tells me constantly how proud she is of the work I'm doing. Work I couldn't do without her encouragement 🥰

Both of us would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for supporting this women run small business!

Mondays! Why do they feel so hard sometimes?

I'm not feeling my best - physically a little tired and sore, and mentally things feel heavy. Years ago, I would have started thinking about the things in my life I needed to eliminate or restrict...less screen time, no sugar, etc. But this mindset doesn't work for me! I've learned an important lesson - I do better when I focus on the MORE not the LESS. So my focus is on more of the things I love that are also good for me - water, yummy fruits & veggies, fresh air, connecting with friends...oh and maybe sleep?! But that's not my strong suit 😄 oh and more flowers! I've ordered more chamomile this week as it was so cheerful last week and more gerbera daisies too.
