If you’re looking to see some epic crashes this year make sure to follow our organizer Adam’s wheel. He tends to do some spectacular acrobats on his way down. Anyone have any other fun wipeout photos they wanna share? Send them to us and we’ll put some together!

Put your bikes in the air if you’re ready for another season of cross! Starting the end of August we’re back for another year of racing! Stay tuned for more info!

Cross is coming!!

That's right, were back for another season of cross racing starting the last Wednesday of August. The website will be updated in the coming weeks with a new schedule and we'll be adding registration for the new year as soon as we can!

In the meantime, were looking for any course suggestions and ideas for the season. More hills? More barriers? More off camber turns? let us know in the comments what you want.

PS. Adam Trela will have a strong desire to put in another pinwheel so if you have any complaints please direct them to him

Looking forward to seeing you all out at the London Bike Show next weekend, brought to you by the Forest City Velodrome!

All types of bikes and clubs will be on display including road, mountain, track, bike polo and cyclocross.

Neals and I will be there accepting new entries into the heckle dictionary for the 2024 season.

This is a great opportunity to get your kids signed up for summer time bike clubs, network with other riders or find out where to get your bike tuned up.... or to eye up a new cyclocross machine for the fall :)

FCV is thrilled to offer this event for free to everyone! There will be volunteers collecting donations to the Forest City Velodrome.

Thank you all again for an amazing season and memorable final race! There were some great costumes out there :)

Most importantly, thanks to all those beer-thirsty riders, we were able to increase our donation to the United Way on behalf of Pete to $510!!

Neals and Adam hope to see you again in August 2024! In the meantime, enjoy whatever else you usually do on Wednesday evenings! We'll probably see you on Zwift or whenever the snow melts :)

It looks like it hasn’t snowed yet at the course, so that should help keep everyone’s toes a little warmer! Please remember to bring lights. If you want to get some extra miles out of your Halloween costume, go for it!

BEER - United Way Donations & National Championships Fundraising

As some might know, the land owner Pete allows us to use his property at no cost; something we're extremely grateful for. In leu of this, we make an annual donation to United Way in Pete's name based on our ridership numbers.

Here's two facts: One, We're currently at a $390 donation this year.
Two, we have 96 cans of beer donated at cost by Upper Thames!

If you're planning on making the trip out tomorrow, we'll be accepting donations in exchange for these delicious beverages. Give what you can for as many cans as you'd like! First come first served :) Cash or e-transfer welcomed!

Speaking of delicious things, Jayden will also be selling Rheo Thompson mint smoothie chocolates for $3 each to help fund travel and entry costs to the upcoming National Championships race! So hold off devouring your Halloween candy and save your appetite for after (or before if you need a little pick-me-up) the race!

LAST RACE IS TOMORROW!!!
5:30pm
4:30pm pre-ride

We'll be doing podiums and prizes right after the race. A few reminders and notes:
1. Bring your lights!
2. Podium Spots - if there's a good chance you're going to podium for your category, please try to make it out!
3. Bring some spare change (see our next post)
4. Halloween Costumes - dress up if you'd like to get another chance to wear yours! We'd also recommend bringing some warm clothes for after the race.
5. The Porta Potty is gone. Unfortunately we couldn't keep it another week. Sorry!

We're excited to see you all out there tomorrow! It's been a great time hosting you all throughout the fall and we can't wait to do it again next year! Thanks for all your support - Happy Halloween.
PS.... we might be willing to accept candy bribes for podium places ;P

Results are up!

Thanks for everyone who came out! The light rain made for a fun and slippery evening with the warm weather cancelling out most of the misery :)

We're still trying to figure out what Neals had up on the screen that was so interesting?? Maybe Adam's shockingly slow lap times? Or maybe everyone was waiting to see if Rob Daniells would DNF for a record-setting 5th time in a row??

Anyways, next week is the last race of the season! We'll be doing podiums and prizes immediately following the race.

Even if you don't want to race, all heckling spectators are welcome :)

Race tomorrow is at 5:30pm!
Pre-riding opens at 4:30pm.

We'd RECCOMEND LIGHTS if you have them as we're quickly running out of daylight these days...especially through the creepy pine forest...

Looks like we're in for some warmer weather and hopefully some fairly clear skies!

By the way, if your interested in some spooky looking pictures, take a look through some of Lauren Daniells Sports Photography's pictures from a few weeks ago! :)

By far the scariest picture of Derek we've ever seen! Wouldn't want to be being chased by that guy!

Happy everyone enjoyed the new course last night!
We're also happy no one went swimming :)

Pro tip: lights are probably a good idea for next week, especially through the spooky pine forest, unless you want to leave looking like Scarface....

A reminder that the race next week starts at 5:30pm!

We'll be saving the annual Halloween costume race for the last race of the season. This way everyone can get double duty out of their costumes.

See you all next week!

New Course Alert!

Looks like we've dodged the rain again. The weather's looking great for tomorrow!

Race: 6:00pm
Pre-ride: 5:00pm

Adam, Ryan, Jess and baby spent a few lovely hours in the rain on Sunday afternoon setting up a exciting course that's 80% new, featuring never before ridden territory!

IMPORTANT NOTE: There's a bridge crossing. This will be considered a neutral zone where everyone will be courteous and nice. Everyone must dismount and either walk or run the bridge to ensure no-one goes for a swim :)

We'll be finishing up some setup beginning around 4pm (tape and pruning), so apologies if everything's not 100% before 5pm. Please check-in with us before riding!

We hope you all enjoy it!

Lets talk about series standings, prizes and our sponsors!

We've only got three races to go to the end of the season and the battle for podium spots is pretty tight in a few categories!!

A huge thanks to our sponsors Cycles London, The Trek Store and Upper Thames Brewing for providing some amazing prizing for all the podum spots... and maybe more! Not sure how the baby got in there... sneaky baby... nobody wins with that prize ;P

If you see Paul Dean riding around tomorrow, please make sure to say thanks!

We'll plan to do all the cerimonial stuff immediatly after the last race on November 1st. There's a strong chance if you show up, you'll walk away with at least a beer (for those old enough to enjoy responsibly).

Of course Adam and Neals will remove themselves from the standings :)

See you all out there tomorrow!

We hope you all had a great time at Dam CX this past weekend. It was great to see you all out there! Special thanks to Waterloo Cycling Club for putting on a great event!

Staring with the kids, the Biskaborn clan were there in full force with Vienna, Kinsley and Breeze placing 1st, 2nd and 6th repectively in their races. Should the Biskaborn's get their own race team? 🙂 Great job girls!

Both Devin Daniells and Isaac Aston all fought through the soul-sucking beach sand to finish 3rd and 4th in their races, respectively. Do we need some sand at Nordic Cats for practice? 😜

Maureen O'Hare had a great race winning the Master B Women's race and finishing less than 4 seconds back of the Master A Women's race winner!

Mark Baker, John Majski, Scott Finch and Derek Williams all raced in M3. I think I overheard Mark complaining about his legs and John got lost in the sand. Mark still finished in an admorable 5th with John arriving in the top-middle of the pack in 12th! Derek and Scott fought it out 21st and 22nd respectively. Great ride guys!

Austin Rankl, Andrew Lambert, Ryan Frouws, Adam Trela and Neals Van Wely all raced E3. Austin sand-bagged his way to 1st with Andrew, following hot on his sandy heels, finished 3rd. Ryan, Adam and Neals all enjoyed another casual group ride and found some time to make a few wicked sand castles at the beach. Ryan eventually had enough and road away. Neals decided to inspect the grass on the other side of the barriers with his forehead and Adam's lungs called it quits. The three arrived in 8th, 10th and 11th - a solid mid-pack finish.

Marty Woperies, Marc Joanisse and Rob Daniells all raced M2, coming home in 5th, 15th with Rob being a strong candidate for the Lantern Rouge finishing 17/19 😜

Andrew Lambert also competed in single-speed placing first! He also road his fasted lap of the day during this race... maybe him and Shawn Roach sould talk 🙂

All in all, great racing everyone!!

Pictured here is Shaun Roach. He stares down at his knees. They scream "MORE GEARS PLEASE", the pedals churning slower than molassis on a cold winter's day. Shaun frantically reaches for the shifter, but here's none to be found... it's a single speed fatbike. The knees are offered no salvation; knee surgens across the country rub their hands with anticipation. Shaun continues the race, no doublty crushing those unlucky enough to fall into his path.

Big thanks to Lauren Daniells Sports Photography for coming out last week and providing pictures for important Canadian Heritage moments likes these. The full album for October 4th's race can be found here: https://laurendaniellssportsphotography.pixieset.com/2023-nordiccatscxoct3/

RACE IS AT 6PM TOMORROW

It looks like we've got another beautiful fall day in store for us tomorrow!

We'd like to give a few shout-outs to our racers who toughed it out on a very technical Cowbell CX OCup this past weekend.

BIG congrats to both Devin Daniells and Isaac Aston who placed first and second in U13 boys!! Happy to see those Wednesday laps paying off!

Maureen O'Hare came through the line in first place in Master B Womens with the support of some strong heckling from the sidelines 🙂 Great job Maureen!!!

Mark Baker continued his mid-race mechanical streak, unfortunately succumbing to a flat after leading the M3 wave by OVER A MINUTE through the first two laps. Mark needs to get his wheels setup tubless!!

Robert Daniells, clearly needing some lessons from the younger Devin, came through in 20th in M2.

Greg Van Moorsel, Adam and Neals all duked it out in the E3 race with Greg storming to the front early in the first lap. Unfortuatly his legs weren't as strong as his heart, fading the latter laps but still placing 5th!!

Adam and Neals both celebrated their return to racing in E3, coming away with blisters, a nose bleed and mild heatstroke, finishing 7th and 8th respectively. Adam continued his race tradition of falling on the ground and mildly damaging his bike. Neals continued his race tradition of finishing behind Adam, haha 🙂

I'm sure we're all looking forward to Dam CX in a couple of weeks. As always, if you're interested in volunteering for setup, please let us know!

See you all tomorrow!
