I booked the new Dreams Estrella Del Mar for 2 separate repeat clients yesterday!!

This new build in Mazatlan is a great choice to keep everyone happy. A lazy river, golf course, great pools, beach and the service and quality you know and love the from World of Hyatt and Dreams brands.

Mazatlan is a great destinaiton on the Pacific side of Mexico. Did you know it was the best place to view the solar eclipse earlier this year. It also has one of the largest Malecons in North America and a state of the art aquarium. Get around town is easy on a Pulmonia, the open air taxies

Congratulations to M & J who will be celebrating with friends and family next July at the beautiful Catalonia Grand Cost Mujeres Resort and Spa.

They were looking for a kid friendly, mid range property with an beautiful white sand beach.

Located in Costa Mujeres this area has some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.

What was I up to yesterday? An in-person training with these 2 suppliers, Playa Resorts and Viking cruises. It was great to connect with colleagues and meet new ones and learn what is new.

Here are a few things that I learned

Playa Resorts will be opening 2 new properties this next year one in the Mayan Riviera and one in the Dominican Republic.

Viking Cruise lines - I thought they were only river cruises but they have ocean and expeditions cruises as well. Their ships are smaller so can get into smaller ports the big ships can’t. They have a 180 day world cruise and an 84 day pole to pole cruise (Arctic to Antarctica)

Continuing education like this keeps me in the know and I’m able to serve you better.

Day 6 and 7

Day most of the group departed today from Secrets to home. We said goodbye to new friends and 4 of us headed to the Hyatt Ziva for a site inspection.

This is a more modern family resort. It’s currently undergoing a full renovation to one of its buildings so there is a lot of construction noise. Renovations are supposed to be completed by March 2025.

I really liked this resort and I think it will be beautiful once it’s all completed and fully open again.

Then we headed to Sandos Finisterra which is directly across from Breathless Los Cabos - remember the first property we stayed at last week.😊

This is a family friendly property and one of the oldest resorts in the area. Half of the resort is built into the rocky hillside. It has amazing view of the ocean and marina.

They upgraded me to a one bedroom suite which is the size of a small condo.

We met up with another agent who is here and enjoyed lounging in the pools.

Their location is ideal for people who want to get off the resort and go explore the local area as you are just steps away from the marina, shops and nightlife.

We had dinner at the beach restaurant which was good then made sure the 2 gals were in a cab back to their respective hotels.!!

Day 7

Woke up to a beautiful sunrise, and watching all the fishing boats go out. I believe there was a turtle release happening as there were a number of people gathered by the turtle nests.

Had coffee at the cupcake cafe and Met up with friends at the VIP pool.

Saw another friend off on her transfer and way home mid morning.

Later that afternoon I met up with Sandos BDM so we could get off property and have dinner. We went to 2 great restaurants. The first the wine bar was a 10 min walk from the hotel. If you like wine this is the place to go. Cool ambience great service. We shared a bottle of wine and some appetizers.

Then 3 of us took a cab to Edith’s - this place was amazing - there was so much to look at, the service was amazing and food was delicious. If you like seafood this is a great option. We share an appy, main and dessert between the 3 of us and so thankful we did because the portions are huge.

It was so fun to see the waiters make Caesar salad, Mexican coffee and bananas foster tableside in the traditional ways.

What a fun experience!!!

The cab ride back to the hotel was great as we got to see Cabo at night and all the clubs and bars lite up.

Today I head back to Calgary. I really enjoyed my time in Cabo. I got to see 5 new properties learn more about the area and get to experience some of the local life.

I love that it’s a short flight from the west and there is always something new to see and do.

Day 5

We had our last night at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos. This resort is in San Jose Del Cabo situated on a golf course and a beautiful stretch of rugged beach.

The rooms have an old world colonial feel. Stunning views from the balcony you can hear the crashing waves.

We had some free time after the site inspection so headed to the pool. We found some chairs and enjoyed the cool water and watching the golfers.

This was the last night of the trip for most of our group. Our hosts had set up dinner at the Barracuda bar which overlooks the ocean. It was a stunning setup and menu.

I tried everything but didn’t each much as I still wasn’t feeling great.

We presented our host John with an Inukshuk as a little thankyou for putting a Canadian fam together. I think he was very touched with it and the symbolism of what they mean.

After dinner we headed back to our rooms as it was a travel day the next day.

Isle Love Travel Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort

Day 3 and 4

Our group checked out of Breatless Los Cabos and headed to Zoetry property- this is a small boutique resort with 68 rooms that is adult centered, meaning they allow kids but have no activities etc for them.

This was a gorgeous property with beautiful grounds, pools and more. I kinda felt like I was in a library and needed to be quiet as it had such a zen feel. This property would be a great option for a couple that is look to relax, unplug and get away from it all.

We had lunch at one of their restaurants with the GM, weddings manager and wedding coordinator. Food was amazing!!!

After lunch we headed next door to our next host property Dreams Los Cabos. This is a family friendly property built in 1998 and is currently going through some renovations. They are reconfiguring some of the rooms to be oceanfront swimout suites they will have 16 once they are done. The swim up bar at the adults only pool is being renovated as well. Not the adults only pool is in full shade and very cool in the late afternoon. Dreams is situated on a long stretch of beach.

We had invitations in our room to join them for a fairy inspired dinner which was amazing. The weddings team had set up 2 of their weddings venues and a reception for us. Food and service was amazing. The cool breeze off the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing made the perfect backdrop drop

After dinner we all headed to see where our training was going to be then headed back to our rooms.

This is were it goes south for me and I want to stress the importance of travel insurance. I don’t know if I food poisoning or a 24 hr stomach bug but everything I ate in the last 12 hrs decided to vacate my body all at once and for the next 10 hrs the bathroom was my best friend. I couldn’t keep water down and I knew if this continued I was going to have to see a dr. And possibly get an IV to be rehydrated. I also knew if that was the case I had nothing to worry about as I had emergency medical travel insurance that would take care of everything if it came to that.

Thankfully it didn’t come to that but I did miss the day of training that I was looking forward too. I did make it down to the lobby for cocktails - I had an electrolyt drink over ice and was sent back to my room by our host as she said I looked like death warmed over.

Today I’m feeling much better - still not great but much better. we are heading to our last host hotel Secrets where we will do a site visit and then have our gala dinner.

Day 2 Breathless Los Cabos

Let me say this is not a typical work day

Started off the day with breakfast at the A La Carte restaurant and chatting with some of the other attendees for a bit.

Then it was off for a site visit. We were advised that the property is at 96% occupancy so they only had the one bedroom suite to show us. These are corner suites with views of the sea of Cortez. The rooms are quite spacious and would be good for a wedding couple.

We headed up to the Purple night club which was transformed from club the night before to a stunning wedding venue. This rooftop venue is completely private and has stunning views of the harbour and the land end arches. I so appreciate when properties have their venues set up so we can see the space rather than trying to visualize an empty space.

We were up there 10:30ish in the morning and it was HOT!!🥵 I would recommend a later afternoon ceremony here so you can catch the beautiful sunset.

The site visit ended at the main activity pool. They had reserved a couple of cabanas for our group which was a nice treat.

We had lunch on the pool deck - cooled off in the pool saw a number of things jumping out of the water. Whale season hasn’t quite stated so don’t think they were whales.

Breathless is also on a swimmable beach - Cabo has 26 blue flag beaches in the area! So we headed to the beach and hung out in the water. The current here is quite strong and even in thigh deep water. Water was cool and clear and we saw some black and yellow stripped fish and a school of minnow through the waves.

We headed back to the quiet pool on the other side. Where we watched the fishing boats coming back. There was this one seal that would follow the fishing boats coming back popping out of the water hoping to be fed from the boats. It was so fun to watch.

We then headed to the marina for a sunset cruise set up by our DMC Amstar DMC. They had arranged for a luxury cruise with one of their providers. It was amazing to see all the different types of boats that were going out to chase the sunset.

So why do they call it lands end? It’s literally where the land ends and where the sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. Other fun facts - there are two beaches in the area lovers beach on one side and divorce Beach on the other

We got back to the property after dark, headed back to the room for the night.

I was quite surprised by this property. I was expecting a much younger crowd and more of a party atmosphere but it was neither of those. It has quite a diverse demographic and not as party as I expected. The location is amazing being right in the heart of the marina so you can go out the front door and go exploring. At 96% occupancy it never felt busy or crowded you could still find beach chairs and the longest wait was at the coffee shop.

This would be a great choice foran adults only wedding a girls/guys trip, bachelor/bachelorette party
All the rooms are marina view. I would suggest bringing ear plugs to sleep with as the sea lions can be quite loud and can be heard at all hours

Today we’re moving to the dreams property and are doing a site visit of Zoetry

Made it to Cabo San Lucas. This is my second trip here. This week I’ll be staying at 4 different properties and doing site visits of 7 resorts.

A little history of the area - you will often hear about refer to this area as Cabo - which is actually 2 different areas San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. San Jose Del Cabo is a little quieter while Cabo San Lucas is more vibrant with the marina and land end Arches.

I’m at the Breathless Cabo San Lucas. We are right in the marina and it’s one of the few properties that is situated on a swimmable beach.

We got in yesterday afternoon and the airport was busy due to the Bisbee Black and Blue fishing tournament that starts today. If you are a sports fisherman this is a great place to come. I watched all the fishing boats head out this morning.

The resort is lovely. It’s split into 2 buildings with a short walk between the two. Rooms are on the marina side, restaurants, beach club, spa, night club and Gym are on the beach side.

We met the rest of our group last night and our host then it was off cocktails on the deck which has lovely views of the marina and sunset. Then off to dinner on the pool deck. This was a lovely simple set up. The sales manager told us that we were Guinea pigs for a new menu they were trying out - it was delicious.

We ended the night with heading to the night club to listen to the live band. This is a rooftop location where you could see all the lights of Los Cabos.

I’m excited for the site visit today and see everything in the daylight. They have also arranged some time at the beach club for us and a sunset cruise tonight to Los Arches.

Tomorrow morning we head to our next host property Dreams Los Cabos.

Recap of day 1

We heard from some of our sponsors in the morning then broke into groups for the 1:1 suppliers meetings and peer to peer discussions.

It was great to get updates of what is new and meet some new very unique properties.

The peer discussions are always my favourite as it’s a great way to hear what other agents do.

We had a couple hours of free time - I had some work to do so caught up on some emails then got ready for the evening cocktail party and dinner.

Cocktail hour was a small tradeshow with all the world of Hyatt resorts in the area.

Dinner was Mexican themed and on the beach the sand was cool on my feet.

This morning we are hearing from more sponsors, more 1:1 meetings and peer to peer.

The resort is setting up for our gala and fair well dinner tonight

Tomorrow is early start with site visits and then off to our next property for the post fam.

Grumpy Cat and I are off on another adventure. We’re heading to Puerto Vallarta as guests of the tourism board for the Gala Puerto Vallarta conference. This conference brings together suppliers and hoteliers from the area. New this year is their focus on Romance Travel.

I’m excited to be staying a couple new properties, networking and connecting with industry reps and more.
