Truth and Reconciliation in Education: A Gathering of Voices to Empower Change brings together education leaders, educators, council, and community members to reimagine the education system and co-create an Indigenous/Anishinaabe curriculum grounded in language, culture, and Elder teachings.

Bad news: We had some cancellations for a youth Gathering coming up in just a few days. 😞

Good news: That means we now have about twenty spaces available! 😄

Feathers of Hope is hosting a youth Gathering with speakers in education, employment, and their own Youth Voices! First Nation Youth 14-18 (from any community/territory affiliation) are welcome to join us at the Valhalla Hotel & Conference Center on November 28th. Breakfast, lunch & dinner provided - single day only, so local area focus as no travel support is available. Email [email protected] or slide into our DM's to register a youth, as space is limited!

July's moon is The Berry Moon or Miini Giizis. It signifies a period of fertility, expansion, familial bonds, and transformation. It is a time when communities unite to harvest berries and medicinal plants, preparing for the approaching winter months. Throughout this lunar phase, we embrace acts of kindness that express our gratitude for one another, recognizing our interconnectedness with all beings and the natural world.

Additionally, the Berry Moon is recognized by various names, including Raspberry Moon, Blueberry Moon, Buck Moon, Feather Moulting Moon, Thunder Moon, Salmon Moon, among others.

Today is ! Today is a day to celebrate the cultures and traditions of Indigenous folks all across Turtle Island. One of the greatest privileges of the work we do is that we often get to be a fly on the wall as our clients, communities, and partners work together on incredible projects.

From Gatherings of Survivors to developing Child and Family Service accessible resources to bringing together First Nations entrepreneurs and community initiatives for economic development, we’ve seen incredible successes for what Indigenous people can do for their communities and regions.

Today, let’s commit to making sure they aren’t doing that work alone. A hashtag and a day is a good start, but we hope everyone uses this day as a reminder to look at their policies and structures with an eye towards reconciliation. Do you have Indigenous vendors and suppliers, or applications that are accessible to them? Do you have relationships with Communities, PTO’s, or Programs that provide mutual benefit and growth? For everyday people and allies, do you know what communities are in your region? Are there galleries or businesses that you can support?

We wish our clients & their communities & families a wonderful long weekend, and look forward to working together soon & always learning more. 🙌🏼
