A few snaps from this weekends private seasonal flower workshop! Loved spending the day with Becky and her family to celebrate her birthday this year!

Icelandic poppy, what a woman ✨

Blooming for months in cool spring and summer weather, pushing out blooms that require daily harvesting.

She is delicate in the vase but those 3-5 days are pure joy.

Get into peony season before it’s done for another year! ✨

Had to treat myself to a vase full. They are one of the flowers I haven’t been able to grow as I am on rented land. They take about 3 years from bare root plants to get flowers for cutting so sadly I can’t commit to the long game flowers.

Luckily, there are some incredible growers just outside of Vancouver that grow a wide variety of stunning peonies.

The lupines stealing the show out at ✨

What wild and wonderful flowers, with their vivid colors extending from bottom to top as each floret opens.

They make me want to throw a party under a circus tent, leaning into their garish beauty by adding yellows, reds and a dash of white to match the stripes 🎪

When we say local, we mean we know our farmer by name and give her a big hug when we go pick up flowers! 💕

Meet Mandy of ✨

An incredibly talented, kind and generous farmer who grows some of the best blooms I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. The quality and variety that she offers is unmatched by the big wholesalers and has built her reputation amongst florists and designers as a reliable source for stunning flowers and foliage.

Top notch product aside, her warm presence and enthusiasm for growing leaves me looking forward to my next trip out before I’ve driven off the farm.

Getting to know and support Mandy as she grows her business has been such a joy and I can’t wait to see what special blooms she will have growing on my next visit!

A perfect example of ‘what grows together, goes together’ ✨

Often referring to fruits and vegetables that are in season at the same time that work nicely in the kitchen together, this saying clearly relates to the quick shifts of seasonal florals.

Icelandic poppies, orlaya, violas, California poppies, and ranunculus in the same season?! Mother Nature knows what she’s doing ✨

I’ve got a limited number of cuties available for pick up this weekend! What a perfect topper for those Mother’s Day desserts, salads or whatever food needs a fancy!

Available in pretty plum, pastel shades or sky blue!

These stunning cakes were done by with some of my violas and herbs last summer! EPPICH indeed!

The best way to get your hands on fresh lilac is to make friends with your neighbours. Tons of these beauties are dotted around our city, often overgrown but still invisible to those not looking. Ask a neighbour if you can cut a stem or two and they will smell even sweeter.

They’re a short lived cut flower but oh so beautiful when enjoyed in the vase. Cut up the stem vertically to help them drink and stay hydrated.

You’ll see loads of these beauties around your Neighbourhood in white, mauve, deep purple, even shades of pink.

Lilac season is short and sweet, but you can catch it if you hurry!

Peonies or tulips??

They didn’t last long but I was able to enjoy the last of these stunning amazing grace tulips despite the blight. The thing about growing that keeps me from getting too upset when things don’t go right, you always get to try again next year!
