One thing about me: I NEVER cut corners. My mission is to make your dream wedding a reality. Here are 5 things you’ll never catch me doing:

1. Overbooking and giving anything less than my full attention:
You deserve my all. I don’t juggle multiple weddings at once by booking weddings back to back - just 100% focus, energy, and devotion to your day.

2. Leaving important tasks until the last minute:
Procrastination? Not here. We’re organized, prepared, and stress-free from start to finish.

3. Withholding the truth when it’s tough to hear:
I’m your hype woman, but I’ll always be real with you. If something’s off, you’ll know it before it becomes an issue.

4. Assuming vendors know the plan without double-checking:
“I thought they knew” isn’t good enough. I triple-check with vendors to make sure every detail is confirmed.

5. Pushing my ideas over your dream vision:
It’s YOUR day, not mine. I’m here to bring your vision to life, not to build my own portfolio. Your dream, your rules.

Hello! 👋🏼 It’s been a while since I’ve reintroduced myself, and I see many new faces, so I thought this would be a perfect time to do so!

I’m Ashley, the owner and lead planner of Joyful Events. I’m so thrilled you’re here! As someone who has always been the go-to planner among friends and family, it felt only natural to turn this deep passion into a career in event planning.

Joyful Events is named after my late grandmother, Joyce Lee, whose passion for hosting and uniting loved ones inspired the heart and soul of this company. Her gatherings were always filled with warmth, love, and a sense of togetherness that left lasting memories. In her honor, I strive to infuse every event with the same spirit, ensuring that each client’s special day is a celebration to remember.

From intimate gatherings to grand celebrations, I pour my heart into every detail, aiming to create events that not only meet but exceed your expectations. I hope to make each occasion as joyful and memorable as the ones my grandmother used to host.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate the journey of raising my son. As a mother, I aspire for my son to see in me not just a caregiver, but a role model who pursues her dreams and ambitions alongside nurturing him.

I want him to understand that motherhood doesn’t mean sacrificing everything, but rather finding a balance between personal growth and family. I grew up with the constant burden/reminder that my parents gave up everything just because they had me. It stops here. I want to remind him how much he inspired me instead.

Let’s also raise our sons to respect and appreciate the strength, resilience, and determination of women, empowering them to be allies in the fight for gender equality.

Something I always remind my couples when their wedding day is near. Please don’t forget to be in the moment on your wedding day!

Here are a few tips to think about as you near your big day:

1️⃣ Look Up - I know this should be so simple to remember, but it's easy to get wrapped up in yourself... after all you are the bride!
Remind vourself to look around. Take a peek at everyone seated at your ceremony when you're at the altar, dance with your wedding guests, just pause and look around the room. This is how mental images are made.

2️⃣ Focus On the Senses - To help myself focus on my wedding day, I tried to meditate on exactly what I was seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and tasting. This forces you to stay in the moment and absorb each part of your wedding day. You'll remember the sound of your officiant, the look on your spouse's face when you walked down the aisle, and the joy that radiated through your wedding reception.

3️⃣ Delegate - Allow me as your wedding coordinator and bridal party (if you are opting for one) to worry about the day. Hand the schedule over to them before the wedding and let them tell you what's next. This will help you from being the one to worry about what's ahead and just enjoy each moment.

It's not our natural disposition to lose ourselves in the moment, but your wedding day is one you don't want to blink through. Being present and allowing your mind to not wander will give you lifelong memories of the most important day of your life 🫶

If you’re welcoming guests with a glass of bubbly, find a spot for servers that’s inviting but doesn’t interfere with the ceremony space—an easy-to-spot position that feels natural as guests enter. Get your popcorn ready for this one! Let’s talk about wedding gift pressure 👀 I absolutely hate the pressure to spend a specific amount on a wedding gift. In my opinion, gifts should be thoughtful expressions of love and appreciation, not obligations. There are countless ways to give a meaningful and special gift without breaking the bank. Setting a monetary requirement defeats the purpose of gift-giving. Many people believe in the “cover your plate” method, but I don’t agree with it for several reasons: - You have no idea how much the couple is spending on catering—it could range from $50 to $500+. - The couple’s spending choices shouldn’t dictate what guests spend if it’s beyond their comfort zone. Instead, I think gift spending should depend on: 1. Closeness: If you know the couple well, consider splurging a bit more. 2. Involvement: If you’re helping with the wedding or additional events (setup, decor, planning), your support is your gift. 3. Financial Security: If you’re financially blessed, consider giving a valuable gift to pay it forward. 4. Cultural Expectations: Consider what is customary in the couple’s culture or community. 5. Wedding Location: If you’ve traveled a long distance to attend the wedding, the couple might not expect a lavish gift on top of your travel expenses. 6. Your Relationship Status: If you’re attending as a couple, you might spend a bit more than if you were attending solo. 7. Personal Budget: Always give within your means without causing yourself financial strain. 8. Gift Giving Philosophy: Whether you prefer giving experiences, handmade items, or practical gifts. That said, I firmly believe you should never show up empty-handed. At the very least, bring a thoughtfully written card. What are your thoughts?
