Get your popcorn ready for this one! Let’s talk about wedding gift pressure 👀
I absolutely hate the pressure to spend a specific amount on a wedding gift. In my opinion, gifts should be thoughtful expressions of love and appreciation, not obligations. There are countless ways to give a meaningful and special gift without breaking the bank. Setting a monetary requirement defeats the purpose of gift-giving.
Many people believe in the “cover your plate” method, but I don’t agree with it for several reasons:
- You have no idea how much the couple is spending on catering—it could range from $50 to $500+.
- The couple’s spending choices shouldn’t dictate what guests spend if it’s beyond their comfort zone.
Instead, I think gift spending should depend on:
1. Closeness: If you know the couple well, consider splurging a bit more.
2. Involvement: If you’re helping with the wedding or additional events (setup, decor, planning), your support is your gift.
3. Financial Security: If you’re financially blessed, consider giving a valuable gift to pay it forward.
4. Cultural Expectations: Consider what is customary in the couple’s culture or community.
5. Wedding Location: If you’ve traveled a long distance to attend the wedding, the couple might not expect a lavish gift on top of your travel expenses.
6. Your Relationship Status: If you’re attending as a couple, you might spend a bit more than if you were attending solo.
7. Personal Budget: Always give within your means without causing yourself financial strain.
8. Gift Giving Philosophy: Whether you prefer giving experiences, handmade items, or practical gifts.
That said, I firmly believe you should never show up empty-handed. At the very least, bring a thoughtfully written card.
What are your thoughts?

**NEWS FLASH**
In case nobody told you lately... Your wedding day is about YOU!
Here are 3 things brides should absolutely not waste their time worrying about on their wedding day:
1. Others’ Opinions: Focus on what makes you and your partner happy. Your wedding should reflect your unique love story, not what others expect. Whether it’s the theme, venue, or menu, choose what brings you joy.
2. Dress Stains: Don’t stress about your dress getting stained. It’s meant to be worn, danced in, and celebrated in. A little stain or smudge won’t ruin your day or your memories.
3. Last-minute Cancellations: Accept that some people may not show up and be okay with that. Don’t let it ruin your special day.

If I could have a dollar for every person who said “must be nice to plan parties and eat cake!” I’d be a millionaire. For the record, I don’t remember the last time I ate cake at a wedding!
At first, I was surprised by the intensity of emotions involved in wedding planning, but now I understand it better.
Planning a wedding involves navigating a wide range of emotions with my clients. The process often brings up unexpected feelings, like the absence of a parent or changes in friendships. I consider it a privilege to support couples during this chaotic time in their lives.
This job can be emotionally demanding. We plan the happiest days, but we also experience the lows with our clients. Wedding days are a culmination of a lifetime of emotions, both good and bad. And yes, the situations in this reel come from my real experiences.
Shoutout to all the wedding professionals who double as therapists—I see you holding space for your clients.
Fellow vendors, can you relate? Have you been surprised by the situations you’ve encountered?

CAN YOU GUESS THE TOTAL COST OF THIS WEDDING????
$52,000. 💸💸
This wedding took place in Vancouver, BC, in May 2024 (HIGH peak and on a Friday)
First off, I want to thank the bride who allowed me to share her price breakdown. (Of course for privacy I will not be sharing the bride and the video from this reel is not from the actual venue!)
Talking about wedding expenses can feel taboo, but I feel it’s important! Right here, I prioritize price transparency. If you feel comfortable sharing your breakdown I’d love to make this a series!
Remember, wedding budgets can vary significantly based on location, cost of living, guest count, and personal preferences. This is just one couple’s dream wedding; yours might look different. Since this is a real wedding, please keep comments respectful.

Balancing a full-time job, running a business, and raising a child is no easy feat. I struggle heavily some days with mom guilt, and the pressure / mental struggle within myself being a solo entrepreneur.
Yet, when I think about how happy little Ashley would be if she could see into the future and witness where I am now, it makes all the hard work worthwhile. To all you solo entrepreneurs especially the ones who still work that 9-5 grind I see you, and I’m damn proud of you too💪💖

8 useful tips beyond “take your phone out of your pocket” from a wedding planner. Send to your groom & follow for more tips✌🏼
1. Avoid experimenting with new things right before your wedding: Refrain from trying new haircuts, skincare products, foods, or anything else that could cause unforeseen issues or allergic reactions.
2. Finalize your vows early: Write or make the final corrections to your vows at least a week before the wedding. Don’t leave this task for the last minute.
3. Practice tying your tie or bow tie: Ensure you or your best man know how to tie a tie or bow tie well before the wedding day.
4. Get a manicure: Your hands will be photographed, so a manicure will ensure they look their best.
5. Make time to eat: Ensure both you and your bride eat on the wedding day to maintain energy and well-being.
6. Avoid carrying anything in your pockets: Keep your pockets empty to maintain a smooth, neat appearance.
7. Greet your groomsmen: Hug or shake hands with your groomsmen as they come down the aisle.
8. Stay by your bride during the reception: Greet guests together, eat together, and stay close throughout the reception to share the experience.

GUEST COUNT, RECEPTION VENUE , & FOOD
I got married almost 6 years ago and I’ve done over 75 weddings since then.
Here me out 📣📣
1. GUEST COUNT: My biggest regret from my wedding, which had a final guest count of around 130, is that it significantly impacted our budget, venue options, and caused logistical challenges. It also took away from our ability to focus on what we truly wanted. Looking back on it now, the wedding felt like it was about the guests and not us. We hardly spent time together as a couple during the reception and that is something I deeply regret. (Not to mention I don’t even think we speak to half the guests that were invited)
I understand the difficulty of narrowing down the guest list, but if you’re considering reducing it, take it as a sign to do so early in the planning process.
2. RECEPTION VENUE: I regret not taking the time to explore more options. My excitement led me to make quick decisions without thoroughly considering alternatives. Rushing into selecting a venue without conducting adequate research, we settled for one that didn’t align with our vision. In hindsight, I wish we had opted for a more intimate venue.
3. FOOD: Lastly, our catering menus were uninspired and adhered to traditional wedding dinner norms. Looking back, I would have opted for less conventional choices that reflect our personal tastes and preferences.
In hindsight, I’ve learned the importance of prioritizing authenticity over trends and doing what feels right to you and your partner✨

Theres a reason most people go over budget when planing thier wedding. Because sticking to a budget is not easy to do.
Here are three tips to make this happen for you:
1. Before you dive into spending, take a moment to establish your “Top 3” priorities. Knowing what matters most to you as a couple can prevent the all-too-common pitfall of overspending on elements that don’t resonate with your vision. By identifying your must-haves upfront, you’ll allocate your resources where they truly count, ensuring a harmonious balance between your budget and your dreams.
2. Keep your budget on track by meticulously tracking every expense. Whether it’s the venue, catering, or floral arrangements, maintaining a comprehensive spreadsheet of estimated costs versus actual expenditures serves as a powerful tool for accountability. This level of organization not only keeps you financially responsible but also empowers you to make informed decisions as you navigate the myriad choices that come with planning a wedding. (Check out the link in my bio for my engaged now what guide that will help you with this!)
3. Approach wedding planning with intentionality and a thirst for knowledge. Arm yourself with the insights and expertise needed to make savvy decisions at every turn. By immersing yourself in the world of wedding planning, you’ll gain invaluable insights into cost-saving strategies, alternative options, and essential questions to ask vendors. This depth of understanding not only empowers you to make the most of your budget but also ensures that every aspect of your special day reflects your unique vision and values. If your budget allows, hiring a planner will be your key in teaching you about all you need to know!
Guys, It is possible to bring your dream wedding to life while staying firmly within budget! Having the right tools and resources is 🔑
Happy planning!

Here’s a snippet from my chat with @shyahkfilms - the hot topic of “why can’t I just enlist the help of my friends or family instead of hiring a planner or coordinator for my wedding day?”
Consider the value of professional expertise when it comes to making tough decisions on your special day. While your friends and family mean well, entrusting a seasoned planner ensures every detail is handled with care, allowing you to fully embrace the joy of your wedding celebration - and trust me 99% of the time your family members will still want you to make the call the day of. After you’ve made 10,00000 decisions leading up to your day would you want to be faced with these small problems on your big day? I’m almost certain your answer is NO. A lot of the times my couples don’t even know these things happen on their day and that’s how it should be!
Some tough calls that I’ve had to make:
- Deciding to move ceremony inside or keep original plan of having it outdoor. 30% chance of rain, but you see the sun peaking out. What would you do? I decided to keep it outdoor, equipped the guests with umbrellas and it cleared up the moment the bride walked down the aisle! This choice was made on many variables but it boiled down to the relationship I had with the couple and knowing what they would have wanted
- The bride requested a gift table but judging the flow of the room, I opted for a smaller table then the one that was provided as it would have been too tight for guests to stand or walk around with the original table
- My couples cake FELL 2 minutes after it was delivered. Instead of trying to fix the cake that completely fell face first into the floor, I spoke to the venue and luckily they were able to make a small cake for them!
As your planner, I don’t just make timelines. I’m your advocate, your bridal bestie, sometimes your therapist (lol) and lastly I know your wedding in and out where I am confident to make those at times, hard calls!

Ok, all jokes aside - of course not all our partners are like this. We love a partner who is involved or at least takes some stuff off our plate, right? (The way WE want to of course - right virgos? 😂)
