So I unboxed the promotional educator's D&D materials that Wizards of the Coast sent me.

Included were the Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Starter Set, a Terrain Campaign Case, a Creature Campaign Case, a dice set, and some extra character sheets and resources.

The Starter Set has an introductory adventure, basic rules, and premade characters.

The Terrain Crate has gidded dungeon and wilderness tiles, along with stickers that I hope are reusable. If the tiles work with dry erase markers, that would be awesome too.

The Creature Crate has tonnes of round sticker for monster tokens, and various heavy coloured disks to stick them to. These seem a good substitute for miniatures, as they take up less space but are still visually engaging.

I am very grateful for the Dungeons and Dragons educational program and look forward to using these resources with my students.

Has anyone here tried any of these resources in their games before, thinking about running games with students?

I'll do an unboxing tomorrow but I am incredibly impressed with the free swag Wizards of the Coast sends to teachers to help develop Dungeons and Dragons programs at schools.

I thought it would be all digital content at www.dndbeyond.com but am intrigued to see what physical content is inside these boxes.

If you are an educator and want to apply for the program or see other resources for starting your own club, check out https://dnd.wizards.com/resources/educators

Day 2 of 4 days running Dungeons & Dragons games at Franklin Elementary. It is amazing to be able to do this work with young people in an educational setting. I am so appreciative of the teachers and administration at Franklin for their recognition of the value of 'playing pretend.'

It was loads of fun. The shiny math rocks were appealing to a lot of the budding dice goblins too.

A highlight was a new player crashing a horse drawn wagon through the woods to take out a goblin, and then later using a Message spell to wig out some goblin guards and then convince them to bring her into their cave as a travelling entertainer to meet their leader, Chief Klarg.

Photo is not from that adventure with Division 2, but was part of a game I ran for the ExSEL (Excellence in Social Emotional Learning) program, as they raided a temple to rescue a bronze dragon egg from a Dragon Cult.

I especially liked the creative team work the ExSEL students did, such as when one of the students had their Sorcerer use Chill Touch to freeze a lock before another student had his Barbarian burst through the door and knock it off the hinges. It was also nice to see their actions tempered by mercy as they tamed guard drakes and liberated reluctant recruits of the cult.
