To toss or not to toss 💐...
Did you know that it was during the Middle Ages, more precisely during the Holy War, that this tradition was born? Indeed, it was the Crusaders who imported this particular custom to France. Traditionally, women made bouquets garnished with orange blossoms, a symbol of purity, for their wedding day.

Nowadays it's simply a fun way for a bride to share the spotlight with her single friends and it does make for a great modern «photo op» 😉!

Rares sont les mariées à ne pas porter de bouquet de fleurs. C'est au cours du Moyen-âge, plus précisément durant la guerre sainte, que cette tradition voit le jour. En effet, ce sont les Croisés qui auraient importé cette coutume particulière en France. Traditionnellement, les femmes confectionnaient des bouquets garnis de fleurs d'oranger, symbole de la pureté, pour le jour de leur mariage.

De nos jours, c'est simplement une façon amusante pour une mariée de partager la vedette avec ses amis célibataires et de plus, cela constitue une superbe séance photo 😉!

A “First Touch” is when you steal a few moments to yourselves before your ceremony but your soon-to-be spouse doesn’t actually see you. Being hopelessly romantic at heart, I like this new tradition better than a «First Look» as it preserves that magical, unrepeatable moment when spouses first see each other during the walk down the aisle 🥹 . Sometimes the couple will simply stand on opposite sides of a door (or a beautiful stone wall 😉 ) hold hands and bask in the moment. Other times, they’ll read a sweet note to each other, or they’ll just take comfort in being together and taking in the enormity of the moment, free of distractions.

Un «Premier Contact», c’est lorsque vous vous volez quelques instants avant la cérémonie mais que votre futur conjoint ne vous voit pas réellement. Mon coeur romantique préfère cette nouvelle tradition au «Premier Regard» car elle préserve ce moment magique et irréplacable où les époux se voient pour la première fois durant leur cérémonie 🥹. Parfois, le couple se tient simplement de chaque côté d’une porte, se tient la main et profite du moment présent. D’autres fois, ils se liront un doux message, ou se réconforteront simplement en étant ensemble et en profitant de l’énormité du moment, sans distractions.

When this picture was taken we hadn't started dinner yet because our meal was to be more than two hours late, the appetizers had run out and our photographer was already drunk which may explain my expression 😆. And that's just half of the story! We laugh a lot about it now, but it certainly taught us the importance of taking very good care of our clients' wedding days when we began to host weddings here a few years later.

Our best this week...Of course, doves are the the universal symbol of peace but did you know that mourning or turtle doves (I prefer the later) are known to mate with one partner for life and because of this monogamous relationship, they have come to be known as a symbol of love in many Native American cultures? We're so glad that these two love birds have been nesting and sharing our little barn with Shadow 🦄 and Luna 🐴 for years now. Wishing you peace and love this weekend dear friends.

Notre meilleur cliché de la semaine... Bien sûr, les tourterelles sont un symbole universel de paix mais saviez-vous que les tourterelles grises sont connues pour s'accoupler avec un seul partenaire pour la vie et qu'en raison de cette relation monogame, ils sont devenus un symbole d'amour dans de nombreuses cultures amérindiennes?
