Alyssa Brownsmith Events Making magic happen in the events world each and every day. London,UK +44 0747274 1260 & Vancouver,

From an early age I’ve been one to step forward and sort out the finer details, be it writing & directing plays or creating events as a child through to large corporate, non-profit and public events as an adult. With my strong work ethic, ‘get‘er done’ attitude, and great sense of humour, I enjoy being challenged to find solutions to tasks both independently as well as a part of a team. I believe

it’s important to enjoy how I spend my days, working hard to make things happen, but not taking myself too seriously in the process; It’s all about balance. Being a positive and outgoing team player on a project is important to me, as it instills confidence and creates a calm, enjoyable experience overall for those involved. I would love the opportunity to sit down and chat about your company's needs and goals, and see what I can bring to the table to bring your ideas to fruition.

Ever wondered what it means to be an entrepreneur? Have a passion you want to pursue, but don’t know how to start? We’ve partnered with League of Innovators to bring you stories and insights into how you can kickstart your entrepreneurial journey and fuel your fire! Join us for a 60-minute session online to learn about what it takes to run your own business and simple steps you can take to get started! We'll start with a 30-minute fireside chat with an incredible entrepreneur followed by a 30-minute workshop.

Today’s the day to Fuel Your Fire as an entrepreneur! The event starts at 2pm so you still have a couple hours to sign up. You’ll hear from Michelle Kwok, Co-Founder and CEO at FLIK. FLIK: Female Laboratory of Innovative Knowledge is a platform that connects female founders and leaders with students around the world. Co-founder and CEO Michelle Kwok is passionate about providing young people access to leaders and connecting those leaders with ambitious up and coming talent.

“A lot of female founders said they are always looking for talent. A lot of females don’t have the chance to enter the entrepreneurial ecosystem,” she said.

What keeps her going is hearing from young people how inspired they are that their mentors are asking them what they want to do, what their ideas are. “It’s so important to tell young people who are always put down and laughed at that they really can change the world.”

FLIK has started an initiative to match STEM students with those working to mitigate the effects of coronavirus. One of the companies they work with has recently pivoted to match covid-19 patients with experimental clinical trials and FLIK was able to help them reach more studies by connecting them with students.

“It’s more important than ever now with Covid that we all bring our innovation together. Youth are able to do that; they don’t have kids, they don’t have a mortgage to pay. You have all of these safety nets and you have this time and all this expertise to give to the world. If you have time, why don’t you use that to make a difference and do something really great!” she said.

Hear Michelle Kwok’s advice for getting started as a young entrepreneur at the Youth Innovation Showcase’s Fuel Your Fire virtual panel April 14! Register for free here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fuel-your-fire-getting-started-as-an-entrepreneur-registration-102139738708

Hi Friends,
Like many of you, COVID-19 has caused some changes in our business dealings. However, instead of worrying about what is beyond our control, we are seizing this opportunity to use our skills for good and have quickly reimagined a project to help our charitable partner, The Greater Vancouver Food Bank. During the month of April, we are donating 100% of our time with this project to raise much-needed funds to help feed individuals and families in the lower mainland, during these uncertain times.

With so much going on in the media, we want to help bring some connection, joy and culture back into our lives.

If you are or you know of an artist, musician, performer, writer, fitness enthusiast or other, that may be interested to share your/their gift to create a virtual Festival to raise funds for the GVFB, please complete the following form: https://forms.gle/bnvyCM4waFDQbSak7

Health and safety for humanity is priority number 1 during this difficult and scary time. Stay safe, help others where you can, be kind and compassionate. While doing our part to be good humans, we are still mindful of the economic impact this will have on our fellow event industry family and the communities who rely on the annual revenue these events bring to cities that will now not be there. There will come a time that this pandemic is won, and to ensure the industry is supported as others have been we ask you to support the petition.

Let’s get to 606 signatures by the end of today - can you add yours?
