Just like an idea, acorns begin small with the hopes of becoming something big, strong and meaningful... this was the initial push behind Urban Acorn. By using food as a dialogue for social change we aim to get people excited about the local food movement. Inspired by art, music, and the beautiful city of Toronto we hope to help connect people back to their community and build better relationship

with their food and each other. Our goal is to bring sustainable scratch-made food to your table and encourage individuals to break bread with diverse types of people in their community. We specialize in Flexitarian cuisine, which is mostly plant based with moderate use of local or organic meats and seafood. The day has finally come.. we’re officially moving out of our tasting room at 245 Jane. We’re so very grateful to have found and flourished in this space over the last few years but with the future of communal/indoor dining + large events on pause indefinitely, we feel this is a good time to re-group and come back stronger when the time is right!
As much as we would want to keep all our vintage items we simply don’t have the space. If you want to snag a little piece of Urban Acorn, check out (pictured) who have picked up a large haul of furniture, glassware and dishware from us this week. You can also support Jen from . She upcycles vintage plates, teacups, etc and turns them into beautiful/macabre works of art.
Finally a big thank you to for taking us in so we can complete our 2021 season. & .share for coming to our rescue so quickly. for your help with the logistics and a place to lay our heads through all this and everyone who helped make this space feel like a home over the last three years. This is not goodbye and we will see you soon :-)

Last night’s tasting had us remembering how fun and innovative our vegan supper clubs allowed us to be. Drawing inspiration from art, the monthly themes gave us the ability to create combinations of flavours and textures we wouldn’t have dreamed up otherwise.
This gem is our little vegan peach pies with Jalapeño cornbread inspired by Wanda Jackson from our Legends of Rock & Roll. It was an instant hit with our supper club community and continues to be a highly requested catering menu dish. Perfect as a not too sweet dessert or fun starter course for an al fresco event.
Seen here in family style format, this sweet and savoury combo features in-season peaches from & beautiful micro greens from all sourced via .

Happy World Chocolate Day!
Throw back to when we hosted our monthly in our cozy dining space! What we miss most is the laughter and stories coming from our guests around our communal dining tables. Hopefully one day we will share in the supperclub experience again!
Here is a depiction of the final course, Chocolate Velvet Sponge and Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Stack smothered in Strawberry Coulis… needless to say this was a huge hit!

Sometimes clients implement a strict no kids rule for their wedding... and sometimes kids make up a quarter of the guest list!

When & Sascha wanted a very kid-friendly wedding that included about 35 small children in attendance (including their own children), we were excited for the challenge.
Taking inspiration from our co-founder’s own family friendly nuptial, we planned a vegan brunch celebration in Ball’s Falls with a mimosa & cereal bar, taco & donut station, and of course lots of vegans cheese & fruit.
The style allowed guests to flow in and out of the barn as needed and ensured there was also food available for little hands to help themselves.
Stylist created stunning vignettes around the barn meant to pay homage to the couple’s meet-cute, and encourage play with the younger guests.
This wedding was almost two years ago, but it will forever have a special place in our hearts.

Throwback to a very chaotic March 2020... we converted our supper club into a virtual experience and delivered meals all over the city. With 9mins to spare, we finally made it back to the kitchen and hosted our first of many virtual supper club dinners.

We’re hosting live online classes via zoom with featuring some of our favourite recipes. We give you the list to shop for and you log on, follow along, dip into the wine and voila... dinner is done!
