I saw someone last night that I don’t often see who I happen to think is doing really amazing things.

I’ve been sitting on these words that have been living rent free in my mind for about the last six months as I see so many different things happening on our social feeds.

Right now there is a lot of hate and fear and my heart goes out to all people affected by our social climate. This post is not targeted towards this current reality. Right now you do need to stir that pot and make people feel uncomfortable if they are apart of the problem.

Today, these words are for the people who are intentional with their action, their work, and their life. The people with solid integrity trying to do the right thing and make the world a better place.

It’s easy to feel like you aren’t seen in this fight for the betterment of society, but I see you, I appreciate you, and I am you.

here for cozy season (but also slightly above seasonal temps).

seriously though, where are you all heading on vacation this year? And does it cost less than a million dollars for a family of 3? Without an overnight somewhere to fly from Saskatoon?

the sun feels golden today ✨

I always encourage taking a few moments as newlyweds (!!!) throughout the day where it’s just the two of you:

• immediately following your ceremony to take a breath; you did it!
• sneak away with your photographer to capture some golden hour/sunset photos (these are sometimes the most organic and lovely photos- the ones with the most magic)
• end the evening with a dance (may I suggest a replay of your first dance song?) the reception is such a busy time and often the couple spends a big chunk of it apart. (I know I spent a lot more of my reception on the dance floor than my husband did)

You’ve spent 12-18+ months planning this epic celebration of love and the day flies by. Having these check in points throughout the day will leave you feeling connected with each other even if the day pulls you into a million directions!

throwing it back today to the first wedding of the season that Karly and I planned and coordinated together as Brick Loft Event Co]] as our “busy” (I hate this word) wedding planning season comes to a close this weekend. Since this lovely Sunday at the end of May, we have accomplished the following:

• 10 offsite planning weddings together
• 12 offsite planning weddings under our “old” companies
• 3
• 20 in-house weddings at Brick Loft Event Co]] (80% who added one of our planning add-ons)
• 5 major events with (and many of their Network Series)
• 27 social and corporate bookings

IN 5 MONTHS!

I’m not usually a tire pumper or horn tooter, and words or affirmation make me feel really uncomfortable IRL. But I am FREAKIN PROUD of what we have accomplished so far, and what is to come.

we have a small, female-centric team that work hard, are kind, and truly invested in Brick Loft Event Co]] and we couldn’t be more grateful for them.

we have a full schedule of holiday parties and celebrations coming up, and this certainly isn’t a “year wrap up” - that’s to come.

here is your mid season reminder that colour at a wedding shouldn’t be scary.

It’s beautiful, adds texture and depth to the space, and generally makes peoples’ souls happy.

While I’m always here for a monochromatic white moment, wedding day was breathtaking!

I just woke up

to many this may seem like not a big deal; but for me, this is huge! I’ve got this weird phobia of resting, especially during wedding season. This WEEK my body kindly got me through a luncheon event, a golf tournament, a , and 2 full weddings (yesterday’s adding a whopping 35,000 steps to the counter).

As someone who works so much of the summer, I constantly try to be present and active as a mother and wife when I’m not (never truly 100%). I feel guilty saying “I need a nap” or “I need to sleep a little longer”.

My husband took Olivia to visit grandma yesterday in Yorkton and my body took the opportunity to just be and sleep for a while (I did wake up at 6:30 by nature, 7:30 to respond to the emcee for my wedding coming up on Friday, but only just woke up as Scott was calling because it was so unlike me to not check in when I woke up).

So to you parents, entrepreneurs, corporate friends, serial-volunteers, I just want to let you know, it was actually really lovely to rest and to now feel rested! Zero guilt here. I’m actually going to take myself for lunch!

Spending a little extra time at the office this evening working on to-dos getting ready for my final wedding season as a “solopreneur”.
( Of course I’m working this season with with our other venture but I have a few pre-partnership contracts to fulfill)

My 6 final Method Event couples will always hold a special place with me. Although I am eternally grateful for each and every couple who has trusted me independently to work with them; I’m feeling like my lasts hold the same space as the firsts. Their spot in my memory will remain forever the most vivid.

This year is filled with some lovely people; including Brett and Matthew who originally had a larger wedding planned in the city, but even after restrictions were lifted, opted to do what felt right for them and are having an intimate tented backyard wedding in Prince Albert this June!

I’ll share more from each wedding as they unfold this summer, but included in the lineup is my best friend’s brother and his fiancé. My last wedding will be a couple who postponed from 2020 bringing this wild ride full circle!

aisle markers

here is a 2022 trend that I’m predicting (hugely because I’m going to encourage everyone who can to have these beauties adorning the ground).

ground pieces can be easily repurposed in your reception space; infront of your welcome table, cake table, podium, seating chart, base of long tables. The possibilities are endless!

this specific style adds a soft garden element into any indoor space.

what do you think of aisle ground markers?

sneaking away after dinner to capture that beautiful golden sun is so much more than just the photos (although the photos alone are )

it’s an opportunity for you both to take a quick moment to decompress, reconnect privately, and just take a moment to appreciate the day for all it has been so far, and is sure to be during the evening.

the day goes by soooo quickly, so be sure to take a few moments throughout the day; immediately following your ceremony, after dinner, and then when you’re in the thick of the party take a step back together to fully appreciate all the energy and lovely humans who came together to celebrate the two of you. there really is so much magic on a wedding day that can slip by if you let it.

we’ve had snow (small amount), for less than a week and I’m already ready for a hot holiday ☀️🌮🍹

I’m sure it’s a combination of not being allowed to travel anywhere for a long stretch, the fact we have had such a warm fall, and the fast that our industry just finished one of the busiest seasons; but I’m ready.

having a destination wedding? please take me with you 🤣😉

but in all seriousness, I’ve seen a lot of people travelling recently. If you are one of these people; how did it feel? How was the energy of the people in the destination you went? What is the world like right now?

I’ll just be over here flipping through this editorial from early last year. Full list of vendors on the photo! 🤍

09/11/2021

*snow* is in the forecast this week and I realized my concept of time is so distorted right now. I feel like most of us haven’t processed the last year in a traditional linear pathway, and so it’s okay that this wedding feels like it was both yesterday and an eternity ago.

most of you know I have a toddler, who “2 hours” “2 days”, “2 minutes” and “2 seconds” all have the same allotment of time in her reality - a simple count of 2. 1,2.

I feel like our entire industry (or let’s be honest, world) has been living on Olivia-time since the beginning of this all.

there have been moments where I wanted less hours, time to fast forward and moments where I needed more time. more time to work on “a” or process what happened at “b”.

our household spent the weekend slowing down (we have a huge to do list and my husband generally doesn’t “rest” well so it was necessary). But now, now is the time for processes, touch bases, re-organization of my home (and garage so I can park in there this winter).

this week is my first full week back as a full time entrepreneur without a structured part-time in-office event focused job. is in full swing, getting things done before our possession date and I couldn’t be more excited.

I’ll be sure to share more of the happenings as they unfold in a hopefully somewhat linear path.

also, although I’m out of the “thick” of it, there are still many creatives who are treading, many who are prepping for their busy season. so of course, as always…

be kind
