We are deep in engagement season! So here is what we have planned for 2024!

This year, we will be taking a limited amount of weddings. Like, less than 10. And dabbling with the idea of education/coaching

In the last few years, we pushed hard.. took on a lot of weddings and projects and after 10 years in the industry. I'm giving myself space to slow down and enjoy my daughter this summer before she starts school (😭 she's growing up so fast)

So what does that mean for you? If you're contemplating inquiring, do it now! We're taking a handful of full-service and have more openings for a la carte weddings

Here are some questions you should ask during a consultation that really matter.⁠⁠

1 | Are you available for our wedding date?⁠ Finding out if your floral designer is available is the first step. If your wedding date is a year or two out, find out how far in advance you can book.⁠⁠

2 | Do you book more than one wedding on the same day?⁠ Some designers will book multiple weddings on the same day. Decide if it's important to you to have your floral designer dedicated to your wedding date.

⁠⁠3 | What is your design style? ⁠Classic and traditional, contemporary, garden style etc. Matching your inspiration images with your floral designer's portfolio will make sure you'll get the flowers you want!⁠⁠

4 | What is your cancellation, refund, COVID policy? ⁠Having a clear understanding of the contract and the policies it contains BEFORE signing is crucial. Especially during these times, it's important to be well aware of the different policies pertaining to COVID and see if it aligns with what you're comfortable with.

⁠⁠5 | Do you offer setup, delivery and teardown?⁠ A full service wedding includes delivering your personal flowers, setting up your floral pieces and cleaning and collecting flowers/rentals at the end of the night. Check with your designer if they offer this service and the cost associated with it.

Our favourite type of floral design is the garden style or English garden design. What is it?⁠

The origin was inspired by early English gardens which people had at their homes to produce vegetables, flowers, herbs and fruit trees. These items were grown for their fragrance, cosmetic or medicinal purposes.⁠
⁠
All flowers used bloom in the same season. The arrangements are loosely structured oval or round arrangements of a variety of garden flowers featuring more foliage or greenery than many other styles. Weeping or trailing ivies or materials are popular with this style.⁠

Garden Style Wedding at Casa Loma in Toronto

When I say this wedding was perfect, I'm not kidding. It was a beautiful hot summer day, at a coveted wedding venue - Casa Loma in Toronto. The talented Kayla Yestal Photography captured the day, and sprinkle in a stunning ceremony installation, you really can’t ask for more!

Earlier this year I sent out an email to my couples and asked if they were thinking of postponing their wedding or moving forward no matter what. I know with so many changes with guest count allowances it was a hard question to answer but getting a feel on their thoughts would help me plan out my year.

Well, not very long after sending out that email, this Bride replied, "We are going through with our wedding, even if it's just the two of us and our officiant!"

And there you have it... her wedding day may not look the way she originally intended, but it will feel the same. Two people who intensely love each other saying I do and committing to each other. That's what a wedding is truly about. Get married now, have the big party later. Don't let the world dictate your love story.

WHAT IS AN EVENT DESIGNER? And what can they do for me?⁠

An event designer will help you refine your colour palette, and devise an optimal floor plan for your ceremony and reception. They will also select the best linens, furniture, and lighting to create the feeling you want your guests to experience. They will curate other wedding creatives like stationers, cake designers, floral designers, just to name a few.⁠

One thing that I'm really focusing on this year is interesting colour palettes and flower combinations. Colour has such a big impact on our emotions whether you realize it or not. And what is one aspect of your wedding that brings in a whole lotta colour? Flowers.⁠

You may want a classic wedding, but you can achieve that without choosing a white and green colour palette. You can add colour and still have a classic and sophisticated aesthetic.⁠

Let's say your favourite colour is purple, but you think it's impossible to have a classic wedding with purple without it looking themey.⁠

Explore the different shades of purple. Colour doesn't have to bold and saturated. Choosing a muted/pastel palette can be tasteful and timeless. Soft lilacs mixed in with textural white blooms, while adding depth with hints of plum and apricot stems. 👌🏾⁠

Myth #1 About Weddings: DIY is cheaper! The truth? ⁠

Many people assume that DIY is cheaper but the fact is it might even cost you more! I'll admit as a serial hobbyist, I've seen things online and think I can do that! And it ends up taking me three times as long to finish and twice the amount of money, because I don't have the experience or resources of someone who's been doing it for years. ⁠
⁠
So when it comes to your wedding, you might see something on Pinterest and watch a couple Youtube videos and want to start a DIY project. Carefully calculate if it will cost just the same as getting a professional to do it and don't forget to factor in the TIME, you will spend doing it. Trust me, your bridesmaids will thank you.⁠
