To say the last year has thrown us for some loops, would be an understatement. Creating new ways to celebrate life’s special moments has been quite the pivot. And now more than ever, supporting local businesses has been the driving factor behind our sister business on Instagram!

We will be launching in the next few weeks, with carefully curated boxes for your special celebrations, and boy are we excited! Shauna and I have worked tirelessly to bring you some incredible creations. You will have the option to purchase pre-curated gift boxes for special occasions or also work one-on-one to create meaningful boxes for those in your life.

From wedding celebrations to baby showers & bridal showers, to important birthdays, we want to offer you the chance to celebrate those in your life who mean the world to you, even if you are unable to be there in person.

Originally planned for 200 at your wedding, but are having to cut the guest list? We have created boxes geared to celebrating virtually with you from afar on the Big Day. Hosting a virtual baby shower, but want to provide your guests with an elevated experience? We are here to help, and also here to support local and Canadian-made in as many ways as possible!

We would love for you to follow along on this new venture and can’t wait to share all that is in store 💫

Usually at the end of the year, I like to think back on all the accomplishments and the goals achieved. This year I am being thankful that we survived one hell of a year. Thankful and humbled.

Humbled by the lessons.
Humbled by the learning and growth, and re-growth some more.
Humbled by the changes.
Humbled by the fear.
Humbled by the pressure.
Humbled by the quiet of a year that held so many at bay.
Humbled by the vulnerability and uncertainty.
Humbled by the empathy throughout the human population.
Humbled by the movements that happened this year for equality and justice.
Humbled by the connection of humankind.

We all will take lessons away from 2020, big and small. Perhaps the need for us to all slow down and be kind to ourselves. Or to take much less for granted - like hugs and embraces. To focus on self care, and really looking inwards on what we need to be the best versions of ourselves. Perhaps to believe that everything truly does happen for a reason. Perhaps we will take away some of these lessons, and many more, but I hope that together we can remember that 2020 changed us. Every fibre of what we have known. We are surviving through a pandemic.

So no, I did not do all I had set out to do this year (not even close), but I learned a lot in the process. I have hope for the years to come, for the world to return to some sense of normalcy. “Cause I Gotta have faith,” as George Michael said.

I thank all of those who worked on the frontlines, I thank all of those who funded and researched tirelessly for a vaccine, and I thank those who made sacrifices this year to keep those around them safe.

I also want to send my love to all small businesses, in all fields, who have struggled this year. Struggled to keep up with ever-changing requirements and protocols, who struggled to pay rent and stay open. I see you, and I’m here to support you. Times are tough, but there are blue skies ahead.

Cheers to a year the world will never forget, and for making it out in one piece.

Each year on December 1st, I get the opportunity to look back at another year in business and be so grateful for another trip around the sun with Little Bird - an idea that started as a dream. Year Four! How the heck are we already here?!

Was this year easy? Heck no.
Hardest yet? Absolutely.

We moved 23 weddings this year. We revamped 10 full weddings, multiple times. And yet, there is so much to be grateful for.

The commitment of our couples - we can’t thank you enough. I know this year has been so trying on all engaged couples, and having you continue to put your trust in us, means everything. We are always here to support you!

To the team, thank you for being patient and flexible - two things that really sum up 2020. And for working so hard to bring 10 beautiful weddings to life this year.

To my fellow vendors, thank you. For the referrals, the support, and honestly having someone to talk to throughout this year. I know this year has been a doozy, a real big one, but watching businesses pivot, change direction, modify and still create magic has been amazing to watch. I raise my glass to you today as well! 🥂

And my favourite part about December 1st - knowing that tomorrow we kick off another year of our 12 Days of Little Bird Cheer. I cannot wait to share what’s to come, because it’s so good!! Windsor-Essex, you are full of so much greatness - I can’t wait to share some of it with you all, starting tomorrow!

Melancholy feelings today thinking back to big rooms, filled with so many wonderful and warm faces. Something we took for granted - how simple it was to pack a room, share and pass food, and LOTS of hugs.

These feelings come in waves - sadness, anger, fear. The world has changed so much in the past few months. Those things we once took for granted (like those full rooms of smiling faces - no masks), I find myself grieving for. I think it’s OK to mourn some of the world that started 2020, but also be thankful for our health and safety.

It’s ok to feel sad.
It’s ok to feel anxious.
It’s ok to feel.

It’s also more than ok to ask for help.

Now, more than ever, talking to others, talking to professionals, is so important. Mental Health is critical and taking care of ourselves and our minds should be our main priority. Just wanted to send a little reminder today that it is ok to feel. There are A LOT of emotions swarming around this pandemic, and having someone to talk to or reach out to, is more important than ever. 💕

Silken & Jon were two of the sweetest people we have ever met, and their wedding day was all about who they are as a couple. Kind, warm, inviting and a whole lot of fun.

After many revamps of the original plan, their October celebration was nothing short of spectacular. What all boho dreams are made of, I would say!

“I will love you as long as the sun burns in the sky,
as long as the moon shines it’s light into the dark night,
Until the raging blue oceans become calm and run dry.
I will love you until the end of time.”
