Cassidy Hilliard is a photographer who has a love of capturing that special moment. Whether it be a lonesome tree on an isolated hill or the sweet smile of a child eating a piece of juicy watermelon, whatever the locale or subject, on the best of days she believes these images she creates will stir up unexpected feelings and thoughts in the viewer. Cassidy has been taking photographs since she was
a little girl growing up in a small town in Ontario; walking around her country home and/or cottage with her disposable camera. Her mother, Ingrid Hilliard, who took photography in high school and in later years began taking beautiful photographs as a hobby, influenced Cassidy. Photography is a passion that was shared in her family. Ingrid passed it down to Cassidy and created a love of this amazing art. With a photograph, you can capture a moment, and have it forever. Cassidy believes that photography changes the way you see things. Being a photographer you notice lights, shapes, colours, textures, people, buildings, trees, flowers, etc. Everywhere around you looks different when you start to see the world as a photographer. Cassidy also became interested in photography because of her own family – particularly having her own two daughters and step son. Photography became a way to document the life of her children. Whether they are her own, a friend’s, or a client’s, children are an amazing photographic subject and Cassidy’s favourite subject. Children see the world differently, and often express a lot more love and emotion than adults express. Being able to capture that is both a fantastic photographic challenge, and a learning experience.
“I have done my job as an artist if these photographs bring happiness and warmth to your home.” – Cassidy Hilliard
