As I sit here in the quiet hours of the morning holding my unexpected (first) grandson , I can’t help but count my blessings. This past week has been a challenge, it’s been an adventure and more than anything it’s been a complete gift. I’m overwhelmed by the circle of support that surrounds us. This Mother’s Day is one to remember.

Baby Brooks, my first grandson was unexpectedly born in the Dominican Republic on May 2nd. My daughter and her amazing partner experienced a cryptic full-term pregnancy and the baby was delivered at the resort they were staying at. 1 in 25,000 women experience this…. Trust me when I say…. It is a real thing. Sparing the exact details, what Hailey and Ben experienced was nothing less than traumatic. thanks to a few quick-acting hotel residents ( including a nurse, her incredible husband and their amazing daughter) and hotel staff , Hailey, Ben and the baby were rushed to a clinic in an ambulance. Hailey has been discharged and baby Brooks will be discharged tomorrow. It has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least and I look forwatd to being able to bring them home as soon as we can get the paperwork in order. The medical Bill is currently $15,000 US and they didn’t have insurance. I will be sharing a “ Baby Brooks” page to keep everyone updated and it will have details on how you can help them if you wish to. Thank you to everyone for your love and support through this challenging, time.

Yesterday was unbelievably beautiful, not to mention emotional. I have been fortunate enough to be capturing memories for this family fo over a decade and yesterday was like spending the day with family.
