Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Celebration

Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Celebration Recognized as one of the largest Council-Designated Civic Parades by City of Vancouver and supported by the Province of British Columbia

The Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Parade will return after two-year hiatus due to the Pandemic. This signature event of Vancouver’s Chinatown is expected to attract more than 100,000 spectators. The 48th Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival Celebration on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 organized by the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver, Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver, Vanc

ouver Chinatown Merchants Association, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Chinese Freemasons Vancouver Branch and Shon Yee Benevolent Association of Canada. As one of the three largest non-commercial annual parades in Vancouver, the parade features the largest assembly of traditional lion dance teams in Canada with dozens of colourful and energetic lions from various local fraternal and martial arts organizations. Rain or shine, the annual Spring Festival parades have attracted over 4,000 participants from a wide array of cultural groups, with 100,000 spectators lining the parade route for this fun-filled, family-friendly extravaganza. As the first in-person Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival celebration after the pandemic, we expect participation in the 2023 parade will continue to receive overwhelming support from multicultural groups and various community organizations. The 1.3-km long route starts at the Millennium Gate on Pender Street (between Shanghai Alley and Taylor Street), proceeds east along Pender Street, turns south onto Gore Street, turns west onto Keefer Street and then disperses on Keefer at Abbott. Parade will take about two and a half hours to complete. Lion dances throughout Chinatown after the parade from approximately 2 pm to 4 pm.
