Hi everyone! Just a quick update to say that wreath quantities will be limited on Saturday at . I'll be bringing around 15 wreaths for in-person shopping, a smaller quantity than I would have liked to offer, but enough that many people will be able to bring home a Yukon hand-crafted wreath on Saturday. Keep reading if you care to know why π
If you haven't been obsessively checking road conditions this week like I have, you might not have noticed that the road to Skagway has been closed due to avalanche risk all week. Now, normally, that wouldn't affect me, but my last shipment of tulip bulbs has been waiting at the Skagway post office all week! The road has just been re-opened, so instead of spending today working on wreaths, I'm going to be heading down to the coast to bring those last 5,000 bulbs back home!
Having the uncertainty of whether I'd be able to make the trip to collect these bulbs each day this week has really cramped my wreath productivity. These wreath takes hours of prep work from harvesting greenery, preparing the decorative bits, and then even the assembly takes at least an hour per wreath (and often more) trimming all the greenery to just the right length, removing scraggly, yellowing or unhappy bits of pine & spruce, and then hand tying everything together securely, sprig by sprig. Even when I can tune out the rest of the world and get into a groove with production, there's only so many my two hands can make in a day. And with the stress & uncertainty of when I could make the trip to Skagway, I haven't been able to have much time in that productive flow state.
Hopefully lots of you can snag a wreath you love on Saturday! But if not, I'll be making more over the weekend and into next week!
Thanks for your understanding!
