Creativity isn’t always a straight path. It’s filled with experimentation, frustration, and breakthroughs that lead to something extraordinary. In our latest episode of The Kuenzli Talk, we had the pleasure of speaking with Olivia Cerletti, the founder of A Cake Story, about her unique approach to wedding cake artistry.

Unlike many designers, Olivia doesn’t begin with sketches—her process is intuitive, fluid, and deeply emotional. She shapes her cakes in real-time, letting the materials guide her. But sometimes, the creative process challenges her vision.

"There are moments where I step back, look at something, and realize I don’t accept it. If it’s not right, I demolish it—sometimes very emotionally—until it transforms into what it’s meant to be."

Her Soul Cake, designed for our workshop, was the result of this process of evolution and adaptation. Inspired by a beautiful tapestry at the venue, Olivia had a clear vision—but the medium resisted. Instead of forcing the design, she adjusted, allowing the cake to naturally take form. The final piece was more powerful than the original concept, proving that true artistry lies in the ability to embrace change and push boundaries.
